On A Scale Of 1 to 10 How Much Knowledge Does A Jehovah's Witness Have About Their Religion?

years (many decades) ago, most jws knew what their religion taught.

they could go toe to toe with a minister or priest and make some good points.. i believe today's witness knows little about most of the convoluted teachings and revisions of the "truth".

yesteryear's witnesses got a 9/10.

I'd give them a 5 or 6 for being able to regurgitate via publications what the WTS tells them the religion is about...I'd give them a 2 for being able to understand without that crutch from the WTS, ie: they know very little based on their personal research of the doctrines.

Higher education and the unemployment rate

now...here is some information (or statistics) that you won't hear at your local kh or assembly program...... "...people with higher education have weathered the economic downturn and unemployment crisis much better than those without.

the unemployment rate for americans with a bachelor's degree or higher was 4.4 percent in june, much lower than the 8.2 percent average for the general population of workers 25 and older.

I would argue that in the current employment environment, with the scarcity of jobs, that those with higher education are applying for and getting jobs that would have normally gone to "less educated" persons. That alone is an argument for higher education...it never hurts to have an "ace up your sleeve".

in the key to family happiness book, the wbts says that if you have sex with your marriage mate after they cheat on you, and you knew it, you cannot divorce them.. i was disgusted by learning that.

i only discovered this recently, but i am very angry.

what if your husand tells you that he'll keep screwing other women if you don't have sex with him?

You could always say there was no second witness there to hear the admission, thus it doesn't count anyway!

OMG shunning story

my wife and i went to fedex / kinko's this afternoon and ran into a girl who was df'ed several years ago, (her parents are quite the rabid jw's.).

they have two daughters, and the younger one recently got married at the kh.. the older one who we were talking to proceeded to tell us that she decided to attend her younger sisters wedding ceremony which was fine despite the fact that nobody talked to her.. but after the wedding she was basically ushered out of the hall.

she was not allowed to participate in any pictures, or allowed to speak to the new couple.

By the way...I didn't go to the wedding, but I did send a gift which I think was the real motive for the invite! LOL

This is pretty typical...unfortunately. When my nephew got married, my family went out of their way to invite me, but also made it just as pointed that I would only be allowed to attend the ceremony and not the reception thereafter. They even had the "b*lls" to say that this was a provision to protect me from the embarrassment of being singled out and ignored at the reception. Oh, and by the way, the bride and groom are registered at Macy's!! LOL

Wasn't that considerate??
