Hate to say it, but if they allow Muslim countries to sentence people to death for changing religions, I doubt they would do much regarding the WTS....

Both "Mentally Diseased" & Blood Transfusion DF/DA Violate UN Charter
by skeeter1 inthe united nations charter is for all un countries to follow, to its best ability.. the united nations is for the right to change one's religion, without coercion.
it applies to both countries who thwart changing religions directly, but also holds governments responsible if it allow private actors to coerce people from changing one's religion.
coercion is thought of broadly, and goes beyond mere physical force.

New To Wine - Looking for Suggestions
by HintOfLime inusually, in the evenings i like to relax, watch a movie or a comple tv shows, and sip on some vodka.. lately, however, i've gotten into reading again - and vodka just isn't the right drink.
the characters in the books are often read of drinking this wine or that - which has given me a bit of a craving for a good red wine.
something relaxing, and easy enough that it doesn't get you buzzed after a few sips (inhibiting my ability to read, etc.).

A light red would be a Pinot Noir, though usually quite dry. Cabernets, Merlots and Shiraz are all fine full bodied reds. My personal preference is a nice Zinfandel. if you are in California, I would suggest Rombauer Zinfandel...it is not too costy and has a big fruit forward flavor that makes you think of some sweetness. I know that BevMo carries it and at a decent price.

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 09-25-2011 WT Study (ENTER REST)
by blondie inhowever, love for god and for his.
our love for god and his dear son = is of no value unless we are part of the human/earthly organization, the wts.
how many scriptures are actually read and applied at a meeting?

Another great job Blondie...every article seems to project a growing "fortress mentality" being fostered among the R&F...sad.

Definition of Necessary Business
by Quarterback innecessary business (nb) guidelines:.
warning a df or da of a fire in a bldg, is not nb.
providing a ride for the df, or da when it assists them in their duress, is not nb.

So true jean-luc...and to add further, necessary business is HIGHLY necessary when it involves money for the JW. (I know that one from personal experience!)

Pre-written prayer at assembly?
by angel.face ini was at the assembly a little while ago.
my baby was acting up during the closing prayer and for the first time i looked up on stage.. it really looked like the brother was reading the prayer.
he had his head turned to one side of the podium where his notes lay.

I personally miss the hour long prayers Fred Franz would give at conventions...NOT! What was he thinking regurgitating the entire convention program?? I certainly don't miss the prayers that subsituted quantity for quality...

Shunning,, let's twist the knife in a little deeper now !
by man in black inthis morning i took my dog who is a therapy dog over to the hospital and visited with several patients.
it is quite an experience, and it really helps people undergoing medical treatment to calm down and relax.. my wife was one of those patients, she is undergoing some tests before getting her gall bladder removed which will probably be sometime tomorrow.. afterwards i took the dog home, cleaned her up, and changed my clothes.
since i was alone i drove over to panara to try one of their breakfast sandwiches, several of the nurses told me that they are pretty good.

MIB...sorry to hear about your "upbuilding" experience with your ex-friends...it never ceases to amaze me how crazy that attitude is.
Glad to hear that the surgery went well. My daughter had hers out this summer, and she literally went home the same day as the surgery!...amazing stuff.

"Satan's Star" Re-examined
by JWStruggle ini put on my blog recently an article reviewing the evidence regarding whether the star of bethlehem was guided by god or satan.
as we are well aware, this is a "pet point" of the witnesses and assists the wt viewpoint with regard to christmas and all things "pagan".. .
