2 year old in China run over-people just walk by
by PaintedToeNail inwhen i saw this article on the news it really disturbed me.
the callousness of the 'people' walking by this poor, sweet baby as she lay writhing in pain and all alone, was horrific to say the least.
my blood truly felt like it ran cold and i've been thinking about this little girl all night.

When I was in China, the one thing I noticed was that people would avoid eye contact when you walked in the streets and act as if they are in a "bubble"...as to traffic, it is pedestrian beware! I think that the cities are so crowded that people lose their connection to others, and it becomes a self preservation issue. It is very sad that they would just walk by...and even worse, was the subsequent drivers running over the injured child...disgusting. What struck me was that the ones ignoring the child were men...not until a woman saw her did she get any attention. Makes me ashamed for my fellow males in that part of the world.

That crazy FDS and the GB connection...or lack thereof.
by Aussie Oz inthe whole fds and the gb representing them is a huge jump of impossible logic.... if the wt do not by their own admission, count the annointed nor know how many real ones there are, if they dont consult the remaining ones, the faithful slave how the hell can the gb 'represent' them?.
i mean, how can i for example tell the world that i represent the people of my town in parliment if not only have they never met me, i have never so much as asked one single towns person anything?
if i don't even know how many people live in my town?

new to JWN
by Brad Wilson inhave been a member of jwr since 2008 and have not been to hall since june 2009, have celebrated 2 yrs without memorial - woohoo - that being said i have stopped by here frequently and decided yesterday to join your group.. it has been very enjoyable to read your stories as well as the other group i have been with, and so it just seemed reasonable to belong to both.. my story is no differant than all the others, the only thing is i was not born in.
that being said i also have no real issues with being an apostate (although i do believe it is used in the perjorative sense by the wt).. peace - brad.

Hi Brad...welcome!
Just a thought...if you are trying to fade w/o problem, you might want to consider a different screen name if the current one is actually your name. There is no question we have JW lurkers here and you could get outed. Fortunately, your name is a bit more common, so you might have some safety there. Just saying...

Evangelical Says Mormonism Is Not Cult; Open To Saying JWs Are
by Justitia Themis inhttp://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2011/10/09/my-take-this-evangelical-says-mormonism-isnt-a-cult/?hpt=hp_t2.
editors note:richard j. mouw is president of fuller theological seminary, an evangelical school in pasadena, california.. by richard j. mouw, special to cnn.

I think this issue is "muddying the waters" regarding the presidential race. Orthodox Christians view any religion that does not embrace the orthodoxy of Christianity (Trinity, Diety Of Christ, Soul, Hell) to be a cult. Their definition of cult is not so much an isolationist group under the influence of a single leader or leadership that is high control, but rather that it is not "Christian" under the definition of orthodoxy. Using that definition, Robert Jeffress, was correct regarding Mormonism in his "definition" of a cult (this would also apply to JW's, Christadelphians, etc.).
Ralph Reed (former head of the Christian Coalition), who has never been know as a liberal Christian, stated it rather clearly when addressing the issue..."we aren't electing a Senior Pastor or Pope, we are electing the President, a political leader", thus his Mormonism shouldn't be a consideration of his qualifications, but rather his political agenda should drive that decision among voters.
I have no doubt, that if given the choice between Obama and Romney during the election, the majority of Evangelicals would vote for Romney despite their disagreement with his religious affiliation.

C.O. Jonsson's response to Watchtower's latest 607 articles
by wannabefree inhttp://kristenfrihet.se/vtsvar/vtsvar1.pdf.
(thanks to augustin for bringing this to our attention in another thread.

Very well researched and written!...unfortunately, it will just be a matter of time before some JW apologist will try to deconstruct and debunk this by making ad hominem attacks on Mr. Jonsson as a "mentally diseased apostate".

Mine is two-fold...the first meaning refers to one of my favorite bands from the 60's...the other meaning refers to how long I had been gone from the JW's when I joined the forum.
