Feet and Toes Research and Noo Lite
by Mad Sweeney inthis has been discussed in the district convention thread but i felt like all the "toes" info would be nice to see in one place.
[from the late 1950s through most of the 1970s the toes of the image meant all coexisting powers and governments at the time of the end].
35 but there was a final or completing part of the symbolic image, namely, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.

The main difference in comparing WTBTS and Camping is that Camping publicly apologized for being wrong...

God, one person, or three?
by slimboyfat inthe trinity doctrine says god is three persons in one being.. yet the bible says god is one.. gal 3.20 a mediator, however, implies more than one party; but god is one.
niv.
gal 3.20 now a mediator is not for just one person, but god is one.

I once heard the best explanation for the concept of a trinity of one God, three persons. That explanation used water as an example. Water (God) exists in three states...liquid, gas (steam) and solid (ice), ie: three separate "persons" or states, yet each one is still water. It is simplistic, but I could understand the concept in a way I had never thought of.

Armageddon Car
by OnTheWayOut inhow many of you bought a nice sedan, suv, or even a minivan back in the days that you described as your "armageddon car" that you would care for and it would last until the end arrived?.
i was driving a 1974 plymouth volare wagon in 1992 when i managed to get an 8-year old buick century.
it was low mileage and had a very luxurious interior.

Visiting old churches
by moley inwhen i was a jw i did and still enjoy visiting old churches and cathedrals because of the history and amazing architecture of these wonderful old buildings.
a sister in my old congregation regaled us with a story of a visit to the tower of london and walking up this crowded narrow staircase only to discover it led to an old chapel.
the way she described her horror at almost entering you would have thought they were doing human sacrifices.

I loved visiting the historic cathedrals and churches in Europe and Asia...though I must admit I always had a sense of superiority walking into them knowing I had the "Truth"! LOL

Lack of Joy
by Gorb inbecause of some respect for family members, we visited the memorial today.. a moment i always think, could i go back into this religion?
we entered the hall and some said a short hello.
and with short i say short.

I remember taking my non-JW wife to a Memorial, and when it was over I asked her opinion. She said it was the most joy-less "church" service she had ever attended, in fact she likened it to going to a tax seminar! LOL

Radical shake up
by Mikejw inimagine if all the governing body resigned and a new set of brothers came in and said we are very very sorry for all those who have been disfellowshipped and disassociated over the years.
we know many mistakes have been made.
we are really genuinely sorry to all those who have been hurt and especially those who have died and been hurt by these mistakes.

Doubt highly that would happen...admitting wrongdoing, especially contributing to a death, would open them up to huge liability lawsuits.

the pain has grown over the years and now i'm using a cane to walk.
after steroid injections and physical therapy, it was decided that a total hip replacement is appropriate.

I have had both my hips replaced and couldn't be happier! After several years of pain, I immediately felt better after both surgeries. My recovery time was not bad...I was hiking Machu Picchu 3 months after my last replacement.
