The last firearm incident I investigated involved an AD (accidental discharge) where the individual shot themselves while attempting to clean an "empty" weapon. It reinforces my point (and Bendrr's) that carrying a firearm is a huge responsibility. Part of that requires that you know and are proficient with use and maintenance of the weapon. With all due respect to all opinions on here, unless you have been involved in a deadly force situation it is difficult to say what you would or wouldn't do. Bottom line, be careful what you wish for...you might get it.

Though I am legally entitled to carry a gun 24/7, I am not a "gun freak". With that being said, self-protection is an innate right and IF (and that is a big IF) a person is proficient in handling a weapon and chooses to keep one, then they should not be ostracized for that. The problem that I have seen as a police officer is with people who have weapons that they are not familiar with or trained in handling, and then the presence of that weapon can work against them. It is a fine line that is an emotional battleground for both sides of the issue. Unless someone has had to use a weapon against another person, they can't truly understand the complexity it adds to your life. Nonetheless, if it comes to protecting your life or that of your family, the option should not be denied you.

A car is spotted by the highway patrolman traveling at a high rate of speed and he gives chase. As he tries to catch up to the speeder, it is obvious that the driver is attempting to out run the officer. When he finally gets the offender pulled over, he approaches the driver and says, "you better have a good excuse for driving like that!". Without missing a beat, the driver responds, "I do officer. A year ago my wife ran off with a highway patrolman, and when you turned your lights on to pull me over I got scared because I thought you were him and were trying to bring her back!"

Soon the Constitution of the United States was adopted to secure domestic hostility. Under the constitution the people enjoyed the right to keep bare arms.

What Got YOU Out Of The Organization?
by minimus inhow did you come to the final decision to get out of her (the organization, "mother")?
?.

Though raised in the organization from age nine, I never really felt it. I just kept getting sucked in deeper and after I married a "good" JW girl, it just seemed like there was no escape. In my forties, I finally hit a point where I was unhappy with being a JW, unhappy with a loveless marriage and a realization that I had lived two thirds of my life for everyone else. I confronted the wife with the marital issues...no desire on her part to change, so I left her. Confronted my reasons for being a JW, read COC and left it. I guess I am just a slow learner!!!

WANTED ! JW Apologist
by wobble inthis must have been mentioned before, but now reniaa is back it could be fun.. if jw's are even part way to the truth, and all other religions are false, then they must have a doctrine that is unique to them, given by holy spirit, but plainly taught in the bible, without resorting to fancifull exegesis and bouncing around from verse to verse out of context etc.. what is that doctrine?.
love.

Thanks BizzyBee...I just call 'em like I see 'em
Earnest, thanks for the honest answers...
Reniaa, I think Sunspot has a point...are you looking to be convinced that JW's are wrong or are you trying to convince everyone else here that they are right? If you are convinced they are right (and you certainly give that impression), then you are endangering your spiritual life by posting on this board! I am sure you have heard this from others on here, but if you were a member of the congregation and it was know you were posting here (even if you are pro-JW), you would be strongly counseled at a minimum and most likely reproved or DF'ed for improper association or even apostasy. I hope you find peace and what you are seeking.
