  i've just watched all 3 parts of francis ford coppola's epic godfather once again.

  it is a superb achievement on many levels.

  each viewing reveals something new and fresh.. i recall, as a good jw at the time, not seeing it when released as it was not certified as 'suitable' given the content for jws.

  Thanks for reminding me Out at last about Braveheart and Full Metal Jacket! Without a doubt, the first 20 minutes of FMJ is probably the funniest yet frightening piece of film that I can recall...R. Lee Ermey was absolutely brilliant as the DI and Vincent D'Onofrio was downright scary in his transformation from buffoon to psychotic zombie.

  To follow up on dudeson's question, I checked the Holman Standard translation and it does indeed render Acts 20:20 as "house to house". Now granted, it is Paul speaking hear and not Jesus, but does anyone have an insight as to why this translation renders it "house to house"? I thought the video was excellent...but we all know that any chink in the armor will be exploited to expose "apostates" as spreading lies. Any thoughts from our scholars?

  Governing Body's excuse - "the apostles made mistakes too"

  we have all heard how the gb can make mistakes and it's ok because jesus apostles had wrong expectations too.

  for instance.

  peter had faults, james and john too - also, "lord, are you restoring the kingdom to isreal at this time" - etc.

  Nope...

  And welcome to the forum!

  I can't think of any instance of "new light" since I don't believe there was ever a change in course by the apostles. It wasn't until the last of the apostles died that the divisions began to take hold in the early church.

  I would be interested in hearing what Leolaia or Narkissos might have to say on this subject...

  1) Don't get baptized just because it seems like the "thing to do".

  2) Don't get married until you are at least 25 and preferably 30!

  3) Engage yourself in school so as to be able to get in to a top university.

  4) Don't make any life-changing decision without looking at all sides of the issue.

  i would love to do this on a mass scale... think there might be something "big" in the results.. 1. were you a born-in (including those who's parents converted while they were still children) or did you convert as an adult?.

  2. when you left, did you still (a) fully believe in the truthtm, (b) partially believe or (c) realise it was all a load of crap?.

  For me it is a tough call, but if I had to say one it would be Apocalypse Now. Its complexity, social commentary, acting and directing were amazing...and it was a real groundbreaker in its time.
