Lady Lee - I think you might be right...you are prejudged by the BOE to determine if you are the "right type" for reinstatement...after all, why waste time on a hopeless cause by doing follow ups?!

Isn't it amazing how the direction of the FDS (do yearly follow ups with DF'ed ones) can be ignored by the BOE, but if the rank and file stray one iota from the party line, the BOE are on it and will make sure the errant one is "lovingly corrected"?!
An interesting side note to my experience since leaving...in 15 years, I have never had one JW knock on my door! The only public witnessing I have seen has been the VERY occasional table set up at the airport where there are magazines displayed and two pre-occupied JW's sitting talking to each other rather than the public.
It is truly a sign of God's favor on his people how this "Good News of the Kingdom" will be preached during these last days!

Great comment JWoods! My wife went to the Memorial one time, and when we left she said she felt like she just spent an hour at a tax seminar!! She was totally creeped out by the lack of joy or feeling...and not partaking but passing the emblems...that was her first and last time!

Thanks for the responses...I think I detect a pattern of "out of sight, out of mind" syndrome. Blondie makes a good point about only calling on the cards in their territory, but it sounds like some have never had a follow up in the same congregation that removed them. It also sounds like most could care less if they ever receive a follow up!

My first experience at a Christian church--for what it's worth
by bluecanary ini am dating an advent christian (very similar to baptist).
i went to church with him for the first time yesterday.
i was pleased that he wanted me there because it's nice to be included in things that are meaningful to him.

I agree with superpunk that every church will have their "special" issues. The big difference I have noticed between JW's and Christian churches is that the Christian pastors are the first to admit that they are fallible and that it isn't the church they should follow, but rather follow Jesus. With the JW's it is always the followers that are the problem and that "Mother" is always right. When "Mother" appears wrong, it is actually your problem for misunderstanding or running ahead of "Mother".
I prefer the casual atmosphere at most churches...it is far more welcoming to new ones. Let's face it, I doubt the disciples of Jesus worried about wearing the proper robe or whether their beard was perfectly trimmed before joining in worship. One can always argue doctrine, but JW's also like to brand the churches and their followers as something they aren't.

I have been DF'ed for 15 years now, and I have never had one visit (I am not saying that is a bad thing!) from an elder encouraging me to return to the Organization. I moved to another county after my exit, but it was certainly no secret where I was. My ex, a very active JW, knew my address as did my teenage kids. I even attended several Memorials in my new location and made no secret of my status. Come to think of it, no one ever really took the time to find out about me when I did go to the Memorial. My brother is an elder in a neighboring town, but as far as I know, he hasn't encouraged any follow up calls either. I find it interesting that such emphasis is placed on DF'ing being a loving provision used to "bring the erring one back to their senses", yet I have never heard a peep in 15 years. Is this the norm, or I am the exception?
Again, I am not complaining!...just curious as to other's experiences.

As disgusting as this is, I doubt highly this could be laid at the feet of the Borg. There are crazies in all religions, so I think using this example as a "finger point" at JW's is counter-productive...there are so many other things that are taught by the WTS that can be questioned.
