So, are you condemning or praising Rick Warren??
I don't know any "mainstream" Evangelicals that do or would support the type of law being proposed in Uganda. Evangelicals may not agree with homosexuality, but that does not equate with supporting "death to gays"!!
reporting time weekly.
today i uploaded a new article onto my blog recounting the days when watchtower had witnesses turning in field service reports on a weekly basis.
the article is titled reporting time weekly and is available at: http://marvinshilmer.blogspot.com/2011/05/reporting-time.html.
Wow...that brings back memories! I remember being "counseled" for not itemizing my time and placements on those forms as painstakingly as I was expected to...sheesh, what a drag!!
whats the most depressing song you have ever heard?
i would go with either johnny cash - hurt or gary jules-mad world.
This may not be the most depressing, but it certainly is poignant...
forgive me if this topic has been raised before - and i'm still working it out in my head so bear with me.... conventional religions, including jw's, teach that jesus was 30 when he was baptized and began his ministry which lasted 3 years.
the year of jesus' death is said to be ad 33, which would make him 33. and that's what i've always understood.... even the wt of april 2011 says that according to 'modern calculations' the year of his birth is thought to be 2 bc and wikipedia says possibly as far back as 7 bc.
i've never heard anyone argue the fact that there's no way these dates add up.
Larsinger58,
Interesting timeline...just curious...where did you get the death of Herod as being in 1 AD? Everything I have read has his death being somewhere between 4 and 2 BC. Your number makes more sense in supporting the 33 AD date, but I have not been able to find a supporting date for Herod's death of 1 AD.

a husband and his blond wife are driving in town when the come up to a stop light and stop behind a truck, "wow!
" the wife yells..
" the husband asks back.. "those people in front of us are a long way from home!
There was a blonde who found herself sitting next to a Lawyer on an airplane. The lawyer just kept bugging the blonde wanting her to play a game of intelligence. Finally, the lawyer offered her 10 to 1 odds, and said every time the blonde could not answer one of his questions, she owed him $5, but every time he could not answer hers, he'd give her $50.00. The lawyer figured he could not lose, and the blonde reluctantly accepted.
The lawyer first asked, "What is the distance between the Earth and the nearest star?"
Without saying a word the blonde handed him $5. Then the blonde asked, "What goes up a hill with 3 legs and comes back down the hill with 4 legs?"
Well, the lawyer looked puzzled. He took several hours, looking up everything he could on his laptop and even placing numerous air-to-ground phone calls trying to find the answer. Finally, angry and frustrated, he gave up and paid the blonde $50.00
The blonde put the $50 into her purse without comment, but the lawyer insisted, "What is the answer to your question?"
Without saying a word, the blonde handed him $5.
will you heed jehovahs.

Hmmm...how doe the GB know about reading apostate websites and postings on apostate blogs unless they themselves have viewed them?!? Sounds like the admonition only applies to the weak-minded, non-GB JW's.
i have been df-ed for almost 9 years.
just out of curiosity, has anyone decided to find another religion or belief after being jw?
i struggle with my feelings, my mom and brother, aunt, cousins are all jw.
Anniegirl76,
First off, welcome to the forum!
Whether you choose to accept another religion or not, I would suggest you just attend a few churches to help "innoculate" yourself against the JW induced phobia of Babylon the Great. You will be amazed that the average church is not full of "gullible" people led by "men of lawlessness" practicing "vile" things abhorrent to God. Just walking in to a church and not being struck down by God is a liberating thing for an ex-JW! Give it a try...you might be surprised how welcoming a local church can be.
