"Necessary family business" means, "when financial or physical help is needed from an apostate, then it is ok to talk and associate"...as long as it means the congregation or "brothers" don't have to step up and help the affected congregation member. Hypocites!!

Necessary family business
by stillin inthat seems almost redundant to me.
isn't all family business important and necessary?
having a meal with your grown, disfellowshipped child seems to me necessary part of having raised a decent, family-values sort of child.

The "Pop-In"
by Mr. Falcon inso last night the wife is working, the kids are getting ready for bed and i'm watching futurama.
doorbell rings.
now it's dark, snowing and i live on a back road, so it's very odd to have a visitor.

Mr. Falcon...I was heavily used as well, but the "love" ended very quickly after I started to become a marginal publisher. Then the wife and I started to have problems, and the march to the JC commenced. I am obviously not worth even a visit by the elders (must be my unrepentant attitude!)...oh well, I guess I will have to live with the peace and quiet!

Christian questions to ask current JWs
by Christ Alone inhere are some questions that i thought would be interesting to ask a jw if they were open to a free and open discussion.
this assumes a christian worldview that the bible is the word of god.
if you have any others, please post them!

Not going...and my family has given up "inviting" me...have only gone once since I left, and that was because my wife wanted to see what it was all about. After the Memorial, she said it was the most joyless, unfriendly and stiff church service she had ever attended...her comment was that she "felt like she just attended a tax seminar"!!

I would love to have a "pop-in". I have been out since 1995, and I have yet to have an elder visit or even a regular FS call. I moved last year to a rural area with no gates or other restrictions to access, and I still have yet to see anyone door to door. When I was in, we were covering the territory monthly, so I am at a loss as to why I haven't seen anyone in the last 18 years! It would just be interesting to see if sheparding or D2D techniques have changed since I was leading the charge. Based on other's experiences here, maybe I have been blessed!

Why has the WT not tried to shut down this board?
by hamsterbait inwe all know that beth hell monitors this site.. they have repeatedly had sites shut down for quoting large portions of their litterature.
not this one.. do you think this board enables them to keep a finger on the pulse of what is going on in ex and aposto land?

It is easier to "go after" boards that use quotes or publish excerpts from literature directly. The things posted here are "second hand" editorial, and thus not directly attributable to the site. It is no different than the typical "letter to the editor". I am sure the folks in NY would love to shut it down, but a little thing called the Constitution prevents them from doing so.
