  The Spokane case is interesting because the deal with the pervert was that he wasn't supposed to come back to the congregation for two years. The elders/whoever cut this time short. And so the victims got upset.

  The public should be outraged! He was still at large in the community...the people/children in danger in this situation weren't only the Jehovah's Witnesses in his area but the WHOLE community.

  With more cases like this, the public will see the real danger and view it as their problem too, not just a religious problem.

  hello all...i hope ya'll have had a good summer and all...mine was (...well...) pretty crappy.

  anyway, i have a new room mate @ my university now.

  it's my fourth one in less than a full year (i think).

  I played tennis in high school (I still do occasionally). Those beads...yikes...you'd think they'd hurt...but I've noticed that women tennis players wear all kinds of decorations (earings, hair ties, etc.) that would seem to hurt in such an active sport.

  Hello all...I hope ya'll have had a good summer and all...mine was (...well...) pretty crappy. Anyway, I have a new room mate @ my university now. It's my fourth one in less than a full year (I think). So yeah...just as a warning...don't ever try to live with me unless you are VERY special...hee hee...j/k. My new room mate happens to be a born again Christian.

  God help me...I have very strong religious beliefs but they do not rely on Christianity, the bible, or Jesus. But of course she can only see me as a heathen sinner whose going to hell unless I "accept Jesus into my heart", blah blah blah.

  Anyway, not to offend anyone who is a born again Christian, but how do I get her to shut up? Or just leave me alone on the religious issue? She frustrates me because she fails to realize that after I left the organization I found the LOVE I had lacking. I don't need her church or her believes to feel "inspired" or "loved". She thinks her way is the only way (just like the Dubs she was previously ridiculing).

  Maybe the best thing is to just ignore it...but it's SO frustrating. Oh well, tell me what you'll think. Or rather, just make me feel better in my HEATHEN SINNING....hee hee...oh btw pass the alcohol over this way...hee hee...j/k mom and dad...

  How would you explain jws to a non-jw?

  in the past, when i've been talking about being a witness they haven't really understood just how much of an impact it has on your life unless they've been one too.

  whats the best way to explain it to someone who has never been a witness and had little contact with them?

  i'm more thinking of how much control there is over your life, and the reason why a lot of witnesses feel down and suffer from depression, ect.. gadget

  Greven- I once (actually several times) watched a Twilight Zone about a man who bargained with the devil for immortality but he ended up (accidentally) killing his wife and getting a lifetime sentence in prison. I guess immortality would be great as long as you didn't commit any hideous crimes.

  I'm very interested in the connections between different religions, beliefs, backgrounds, and mythology (<--especially this one!).

  In fact, if anyone has any recommendations for books I could read on Hebrew, Greek, Roman, and/or Egyptian mythology, please give them!

  Even better: if anyone knows anything about a book on the connection of these cultures, I'd really like to check it out.

  How well did you know your bible?

  were you able to name all 66 books of the bible by heart and in order?

  some were able to do that, but what did that prove?.

  there were always 6 or 7 books that i was never able to find, so i had to go into the index at the beginning and check the page.

  Cute Larc...real cute.

  I didn't know where to find things I knew were in there...I always had to look it up.

  I knew the general vacinity of what I was looking for. That got me there faster than most people at meetings.

  Actually, I'm quite amazed at myself now. Once in a while somebody will bring up some biblical topic and I'll know what they're talking about, the context of the situation, and the general vicinity of where it is in the bible. For instance my math teacher's assistant has a habit of making analogies between biblical situations and mathematics...gotta love the guy...and while most people think he's on crack, I get it.

  It's kind of like knowing trivia.
