Watchtower= Poor kid donates his only pig to Society what about you? W.T.F!
by Witness 007 inwatchtower nov 1 2007 p.17 {1889} "zions watchtower has jehovah for it's backer and while this is the case it will never beg nor petition men for support.".
"mexico... manuel says, my grandmother gave me a mother pig.....iam sending as a donation what i recieved from selling the pig.....$110 dollars..." {now i ask you couldn't manuel have used that $110 bucks for himself?}.
"14 year old girl from cameroon {another poor country where people can't afford food}....school supplies, i sold two of last years text books $5 dollars i am contributing this plus an aditional $1.82 from my savings...." {this is very sub-liminal, poor kids are donating so how much will you rich folks give?}.

What financial contributions are expected of those attending meetings of Jehovah's Witnesses?
Regarding money contributions, the apostle Paul said: "Let each one do just as he has resolved in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." ( 2 Corinthians 9:7 ) At the Kingdom Halls and convention auditoriums of Jehovah's Witnesses, no collections are ever taken. Boxes are placed so that it is convenient for any who wish to contribute to do so. No one knows what or if others give. Some are able to give more than others; some may not be able to give anything. Jesus showed the right view when he commented on the treasury box at the temple in Jerusalem and those contributing: It is one's capacity to give and the spirit of giving that count, not the amount of money.— Luke 21:1-4 .
What I think is interesting is they make such a big deal about how "no collections are taken" but it is repeatedly mentioned from the platform and the literature about donating. I've attended another church a few Sundays in a row now and while true they pass around a collection bag during one of the songs - no mention is made that they are doing it and no mention has been made from the pastor about we should put anything in. So there was actually MORE being said about donating at the Kingdom Hall then the one I'm currently attending.

Gainseville paper article on convention and my response...
by Metamorphosis inhttp://forums.gainesville.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=7771089265&f=7341026446&m=3441026447&r=1361055547#1361055547.
gainseville paper had an article on the convention (district) down there this weekend and comments from jw's on how it helps cope.
i left a comment response directed at how the shunning nature of the religion certainly doesn't help anyone leaving the denomination cope.

I thought it was hilarious after my second post (as powergator) no one responded to it. There is no valid, logical argument for what they do. I called them out on equating the JW organization w/ accepting/rejecting Christ. Any non-JW who sees that will hopefully recognize it for what it is - a cult like maneuver.

As Much as I hate to say this,I am glad for have being a J Dub
by SuperApostateGirl ini know this sounds crazy however being raised a jehovah's witness gave me the tools of respect for my fellow man.
also my parents had a huge role as well,of course.. i just find today there are soo many twisted people who are amused by the sickest of circumstances and pride themselves on belittling people.i mean i am the first to say.
i love funny sarcasm and making fun of the jehovah's witness religion because i believe in my heart its a crazy cult and way out in left field.

being raised a Jehovah's Witness gave me the tools of respect for my fellow man
For me personally - i have to disagree w/ this statement. One of the things that made me start examining myself is I found the religion made me very judgemental of my fellow man. I think respect that I had could have been found following any advice you normally would get in a Christian church (or many other religions). But too often I found myself looking down on fellow man for his unworthy status, his disregard for the 'absolute truth'. I have found a much better, more enlightened path in embracing my fellow man now that I have left an organization that teaches narrow mindedness.

If the person is interested in returning to God’s flock, they could kindly explain what steps he should take, such as reading the Bible and publications of the Watch Tower Society and attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall.
Oh- because there is definite scriptural backing that for someone to gain or demonstrate repentance they would have to be reading WT's and attending bookstudy/school/service meeting combo studies... give me a break. The disfellowshipping/re-instatement enforcement enacted by the JW's is one of the biggest flaws in them being able to claim any Christian status.

I got one response trying to make it seem like it was just a thing where people's lives took different directions based on what they were practicing. After I tore that argument apart I haven't gotten another response yet. I hope maybe in some small way this can serve as a warning to somebody who has only seen the glossy picture perfect side so far.

*** 1 Year on JWD - Happy Anniversary to ME ***
by Princess Daisy Boo ini like anniversaries - i think it is fascinating to look back at a certain date and remember.. so in honour of my first year on jwd, i look back.... a year ago today, i was sitting in the little shop i owned, waiting for customers that didn't come.
i was bored and when i am bored i eat, and google.
i had been googling jehovah's witnesses and lurking a bit on this site and on that particular day, with a pounding heart and sweaty palms, i joined the forum and posted my story.
