Ok...nice to see you Lady...
I don't find this anything to be overly excited about. I think it is just a technicality, what I want as some really bad stuff in.....
What are they doing with all the money they get from selling the farms.
many new ones or lurkers may not know this but charles russell was not the first wt president like they teach!
who cares you may say?
well if i showed you where they acknowledged this in 1993, but as recent as 2001 they were still printing he was, would that not be valuable to you to show others the watchtowers deliberate deciept??

hello fellow forum members, i am very new here, and feel it is time to share a little about myself.
this site has gotten me quite riled up again, and even after many years my experience is not memorable and still upsets me when i think of it.
my beginning experience of joining the jw organization at age 6 was not unpleasant at all, and was not for many years.

if you are looking for the simplest picture that shows how the wts calculates that jerusalem was destroyed in 607 bce, and if you want to understand basic problems with their method, this might be what you want.. http://au.geocities.com/doug_mason1940/wts_false_reasoning_for_607_bce.pdf.

I don't understand why some are freakin' out about someone disagreeing on 607, and calling Scholar a trouble maker and moron whatever just because they believe from their own studies that it is correct because they prefer to believe the bible over secular scholars. So what, its only a date, I am not convinced that is right, nor do I really care, the biggest problem in the society has nothing to do with a date, it has to do with lack of love.

Scholar has strong faith, and prefers to see the bible's viewpoint, I think thats comendable.
Thanks for that. I'm going this starting Friday, I have heard the the Friday session is about be completely obedient to the FDS, and apparently they asked the audience if they have faith in the slave, because Jehovah and Jesus do and everyone applauds for yonks. worship the slave.
will be taking notes on all talks throughout the convention.
i hope this is not stupid question but it struck me talking to a jw friend who was agast that i love celebrating birthdays that as a faithful jew he would have.
or is this a more modern part of jewish tradition?.
from a recent thread i had some good points - notably pauls comment to not judge those that keep "special days" and she was a little taken aback by that although she said that applied to anniversaries and not birthdays.
i dimly recall something about jade - what was the deal? something to do with budah...I see heaps of sisters wearing jade out of rebellion more than anything, will have to look it up on the wt library, new to me to, when I came back I thought it was silly.

Where is the scripture that says it ok to celebrate a wedding aniversary, I have always thought that the hypocrocy of have a wedding ring, (is pagan) and not allowing stupid things like jade, what about the wedding gown the churchy veil and all the pomp of the bride and drawing attention to her.
Some things just seem double standards.
sosad...have no idea about the Bar Mitzvah, but good thinking
shopoholic is of the opinion that friday's dc talk about obeying/following the faithful and (not so) discreet slave no matter what, is indicative of some dramatic stunt the fds are about to pull.
.
any suggestions as to what this might be?
Heathen I tend to agree with what you say.
After being out for nearly 17yrs, when I came back I was distrubed at how many times I heard the obedience thing to the FDS, it was said at least once at every meeting, I also noticed a army like control thing and the b/s were like suspicious of everyone, this spy thing and the elders were like police they appeared, cant tell you how many times I heard "the society says" not just from the platform but in general conversation. Of course not all can see it especially being in the org without a break, its sneaky and the control thing has been suttle but its obviously chocking, the phoney love by many and the unconcern for one another really threw me, over those years the change was overwhelming.
On the money side we are always in defiicit, at every assembly they are in thousands of $ deficit, now have another contribution box makes three. Just recently been shown a DVD on how the society needs money to build more KH. At last yrs "Store up treasures in heaven" circuit assembly, money was mentioned often and supporting the world wide work with our worldy goods, and for the young ones to think about a future in pioneering, and on and on it went, instead of being encourage, felt like never good enough.
i just knew the gb would find a way to keep on going when the end never seems to come.
well, new light shining brightly we all recently learned that the 144k are still being selected.
no more need to "graft" new ones onto the broken branch.
We just have not been able to fill the order of 144k in the past 2000 years
any volunteers put them all out of their misery
the bible students in 1918 numbered very few, fewer than 6,000. within three years, the number tripled.. the "intriguing subject" they proclaimed from 1918 through 1922 was "millions now living will never die.
" upwards of 70,000 attended to hear this message proclaimed in germany alone.
the talk series had a longer title, "the world has endedmillions now living will never die.
The old light was never light because the new light proved it and as the light gets the brighter the new light that showed the old light to be no light at all will become itself defunct, then when the new light sheeds forth even more light than the defunct light that the new light made defunct will itself become defunct as another brighter light beems down from the tower to sheed a glowing light that has never been seen before and all the old light and the defuct lights will become darker than the orginal old light as we beem me up scotty.
