Why the excuse, "we are theocratic"?
by edmond dantes inthe wts claim to be theocratic when really they are a dictatorship .when ever did they consult the rank and file and why do so many followers accept blindly their pronouncements.maybe it's because of fear or perhaps just plain ignorance.why can't the g.body write to every jw and ask their opinions about forth coming changes to the washtower editions.they could ask individual members by means of a questionaire ; things like, how satisfied are you with the society?
tick one box ",very satisfied", "not very satisfied"," who gives a monkeys".
"always" or "almost always" or " are you peeing down my back or is it raining".another question; the statement millions now living will never die , only tick one box remember , "was true at the time", or" was never true" or "still true today" or " i believe whatever , do i look bothered".. last question ; because we are tax exempt and a charity case what is the the most humanitarian act do you think we have carried out?

Sister/Brother *** is disfellowshipped for.....
by Bonnie_Clyde inin the 1950's i remember they used to say what they were disfellowshipped for, whether it be fornication, stealing, etc.
then it was disfellowshipped for "loose conduct", then "conduct not becoming a christian.
" then it was simply "disfellowshipped" or "disassociated.

From the seventies I remember only, s/b doe disfellowshiped for conduct not becoming a christian, that could include, adultry, fornication, smoking, farting during prayer.
But disassociation would be volintry and usually means they finally found out that the society was a sham, or they couldn't live by their rules.

this would usually happen after a speaker introduced a single "proof text" verse in a talk and then i'd keep on reading in the bible instead of staying in sync with the borg software download.

I remember this older fellow I knew years ago, we got talking about the witnesses (I was out at the time) he said those hypocrites, when I had my farm years ago we were in one of the biggest floods in years, our farm was awash, and we saw these two people (man and women) slushing through water near to their knees coming toward the verandah, we thanked God thought they were coming to help, may have had some food in those bags, when they said they came to preach about the bible, I told them to p*ss of quick smart, they couldn't have given a damn, he's never spoken to them since.

Gov; make so much in tax of the smokers, but health wise I think it a good thing also the cost to the hospital and health system far excedes the tax. I do know of folk in England that go to countries like France to get their cigs, thats how dear they are. Very expensive in Oz also. Still feel like a smoke now and again even after so long a time.
In a way it makes the JW look less holier doesn't it having the government ban them in public, heee heee

Can someone explain Babylon the Great?

the witnesses told me its all false religions and is described as some woman on a beast with many heads and some chalice or something symbolizing all false religion.
i think that was the jist of it.

don't know the main stream religions see BTG to be, the Christadelphins believe it to be the Catholic Church, the JW as you would know see it to be all religion that is not JW, especially christedom.

New Here, just want to introduce myself....
by lies all lies inhi everyone, i never was baptized but studied for a very long time before i finally got my sanity back and realized that although the individual jws for the most part were good people and doing what they thought was right the org itself was total b.s.
anyway ive been lurking here off and on for a while and figured i would stop being lazy and register.
so hello, i enjoy everyones posts and hope to be around for a while!

Higher education ban busting at the seems ?
by 5go ini know of alot of brothers and sisters in my congregation deciding to get at least two years in.
some have certificates and regret it and are going back for mainly money reasons.. me i got a certificate in a area and i am going back to get a real degree.
preferably in a diffrent field.. what is it like where your at ?.

5go....same scenerio in Oz...cheaper labour and more immagrating....the WTBTS have made life hard for the previous generations of b/s many now have nothing to retire on, I would love for someone to debate them on national TV about all the stupid laws or suggestions they laid down over the century, they surely should be held accountable, but hey they always blamed over zealous brothers.
They have been asked to front sexual abuse allegations on TV over the past ten years, but they decline saying they are always taken out of context and edited to suit.
