How much of a role in Brainwashing did the songs actually play?
by KW13 inthose haunting words...those out of tune dubs...wailing...moanin...then i wake up :p lol i am kidding, but i remember 'snippets' of a lot of songs, all of which focused on me being submissive (for example song number 8, my favourite as a child dub).
does singing help brainwash sheep?

Sometimes I hum a tune. Some (and I mean the old ones that were around since I was born in in the early 60's) are quite beautiful melodies. But those are few and far between. You can tell that someone with talent composed them. (But then I'll hum a really terrible tune and do anything short of shock treatment to get it outta my head). As to some of the "newer" greatest misses! Oy! My wife and I joke that some of those badly composed lyrics and melodies were a sin and we were sure that God was rolling his eyes whenever one of those numbers came up. We were always saying "now THAT's a REAL sin!" and wondered if Jah just pulled the plug on listening to such awful stuff. Not God-honoring at all. :0

Am new here but been reading posts for a long time. Drifted off after a move. . . couldn't hack it anymore. Going to meetings and fighting back tears feeling so alone and empty. Knew it wasn't psychologically healthy for me anymore so I picked up and moved far away. Used to be in a congregation in Manhattan where there were often charts up on the platform delineating "the locals" - those that were not pioneers and "the pioneers" and how many hours, placements, etc. there were in each group. Very encouraging indeed! The congregation never really got together much (unless the Locals had the Pioneers and/or Bethelites over and then they would come and eat your food and then proceed to shun you or talk about you and never reciprocate). I remember the only two times I was invited to anything really was when the Bethelites would use one of the rooms over at Bethel and have a Pioneer Appreciation Day where they would set up a table in the middle of the room and have all the Pioneers from our congregration sit there with corsages/boutonnieres on. It was very much the Locals vs the Holy. It was so depressing and divisive. Just my experiences. Thanks. Watching
