  every once in a while we get disturbed or annoyed over something that takes place here.

  for a change, let's express reasons why we're happy to be here.......i'll give one reason amongst many.

  Yeah, good point. And WE'RE the people who give the JWs a hard time for OMITTING so much of what they have published from their CD. What the hell are we doing here, attempting to outdo the JWs in censoring our own stuff?

  In this, as in all things, give a person a particle of power over others and that person goes totally horseshit with it...the current Tsunami of threads that are locked or deleted exhibit A. (And some of the rationale given for these actions would insult the intelligence of a cretin.) I wonder how much longer the good people who ARE this site get a belly full of this kind of bullshit treatment and vote with their feet? We've already voted once that way with one of the world's most high-control cults. This board would be child's play and that would be too bad. It's otherwise such a grand place. We just seem to have a few egomaniacs running loose that are going to spoil the entire apple barrel.

  i just watched this documentary tonight and enjoyed it.

  it's amazing to me the number of gun-related murders in the us... over 11,000 in one year.

  i don't remember the exact figure, but canada, japan, and germany combined had less than 500 gun-related murders.

  and, in your crank news update for this week, here's a very interesting little article...it seems bogus to me, but the question had to be asked by somebody.. i know that there are a few people on this site who will take this ball and run with it, so to speak, so tell us what you think.. my personal theory is, won't the plutonium on galileo be dispersed by it's re-entry into the atmosphere long before fission can take place!

  but, i'm no nuclear physicist!.

  I believe there were prognostications of doom when that broken up comet hit Jupiter back a few years ago. As you know, it didn't. It DID leave a few smudges much larger than expected, but that was it. No Jovian Nagasaki.

  these involve people who have been clinically dead but have revived and reported a sense of consciousness during the period they were "dead".

  this has often been cited as evidence of life after death.

  Read, if you can find a copy, Life After Life, by a guy named Mood, or Moody, or something like that. He was an M.D. who did a pretty in-depth study of the near-death experiences of people from all over the world, of all ages, of all faiths, etc. It was a fascinating study. He later wrote another book very like the first.

  You might want to try half.com to see if they have the book. They deal in old titles like that.

  I'm with Simon. Communism was/is a religion. And the Democrat party in the US is also. It is practiced as a religion is practiced. Notice how, in the last election, Bush's dedication to his religion was viewed with horror by the neo-Marxist Democrat party - that same party who thought that the dedication of Lieberman to HIS religion was just wonderful, marvelous, too marvelous for words. See? the neo-Marxist Democrat party/religion already has one of the necessary dysfunctions: hypocrisy.

  Well said. I strongly believe there's going to be a giant hole, a crater, in the earth and it's not going to have been caused by a meteor impact. It's going to have been caused by the political vision of Jehovah's Witnesses expressed as a state - Isreal in its fight with the Arabs.

  How old are you? Do you ever remember a time when Jews and Arabs weren't killing each other in the Levant? I don't. I was born before the establishment of the Jewish state. It was born in blood and killing and it has existed in blood and killing and it looks as if it will end in blood and killing. One of its own greatest mass murderers is now its prime minister.

  The state of Isreal, born with the highest ideals of David Ben-Gurion and Golda Mier and others now wallows in the mud as Ariel Sharon and Yassir Arafat slug it out. The entire thing is disgusting. How long before Isreal is pushed into firing a nuclear device at one of its enemies over there? And there goes the entire ballgame.

  Excuse me Scholar, but a BA and MA in Studies in Religion prepares one to become a modern day Pharisee, like Paul, for instance. Instead of Crises of Conscience, you are predilected to the contents of some other people's books. No big deal.

  It was not from the learned men of his time that Jesus took his apostles, but from the common men. This clearly indicates that the common man could understand even the deep things of God.
