Time and Distance - a Guy Thing?
by compound complex inhi guys and gals,.
this is probably a really dumb question, but are there others out there who measure time and distance when they travel - anywhere?
i understand the occasional setting of the travel odometer to check your auto's mileage.

coco not a dumb question at all.
This is probably a really dumb question, but are there others out there who measure time and distance when they travel - anywhere?
I always do when I'm cycling but never when I'm driving.

Science and Religion.
by Blueblades inreligion and science, science and religion, so often it's portrayed as a fight to the death, no holds barred.
does there have to be a winner?
i think there's a lot of room for comfortable dialogue, lots of areas with interesting questions of overlap.

From a personal POV I have little if any conflict - putting it simply for me, science is mostly concerned with 'how' and 'when' whereas religion is more about 'who' and 'why'
good point sad emo.
A related point is that having knowledge (religious or scientific) is somehow seen as investing the possessor with authority and ownership. I suppose when we come to see the gaining of knowlegde as something for sharing and not as something for owning then we'll begin to make some headway imo.

university (the evil place where you learn critical thinking) has just stopped, and after a semester of hard and succesful study it feels like sliding into a warm bath.

I am on these sites because every JW I ever met is the person we should all be. They raise their children to be honest and good by example.
Glad you appreciate their story because it a convincing one, well packaged and presented and above all it's a very watertight story - too violent for me though - but each to their own.
The disgrunteled people on these sites have a beef of one type or another, and from what I see they haven't swapped their JW belief for anything else. Or they're not telling what it is.
For myself I don't need or want to be in a particular story but understand and accept that others do. I enjoy the freedom of seeing things from the perspective of lots of different perspectives. Do we need to have one set of beliefs?
sincerely and respectfully

by juni inwelcome to the forum!
excellent first "thread" about jws and the use of blood.
it is amazing isn't it how they put out these "doctrines" and then give the disclaimer, " but do according to your conscience.

I'm not sure what the hell a "spirit" is, and I don't much care. So, we may be talking apples and oranges here, and this probably can't help but confuse further comment, but I'll go ahead anyway. Fool that I am.
thanks for the laugh
