Fallacies about Faith
by tec inpeace to you!.
this thread is about false things (some) atheists think theists believe.
this is not a thread about false things that atheists think about theists.

'Perfect justice' implies rendering punishment in accord with prescribed legal procedure, with no room for lenience; 'perfect mercy' requires showing lenience from justice, so the two are fundamentally at odds.
The contradictory nature depends on what is actually meant by the adjective "perfect": it's not contradictory, if it's only meant to imply that a "perfect balance" can be struck between justice and mercy. But on their own, 'perfect justice' and 'perfect mercy' are fundamentally incompatible. ~`Adamah
Isn't that the final situation .. justice and mercy do not stand alone ? It is God's call " perfect balance" ?
So it boils down to, does God have the moral right to make this call ? Are faith , hope and love in God warranted ?
Where will we put our trust ?
Psalms 103:10 says, "he (God) does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities
I hope this may helps some to understand/see/consider that God is both just AND merciful. (in fact, justice without mercy, is not justice at all)~~ Tammy

The medical specialist told me something alarming today. Pretty bummed.
by Julia Orwell inso i've been going to doctors for years with chronic fatigue, a condition i managed ok but which took a drastic nose dive in late 2011 to 2012 to the point where i could barely function.
work was part of the problem, so at the end of that year i left that stressful environment.
but in the meantime, for the last few years i've been going to doctors, specialists, psychiatrists and psychologists and undergoing every sort of blood test you can imagine and seeing all sorts of medical people.

The cognitive dissonance is taking it's toll
Proverbs 13:12 GNT
When hope is crushed, the heart is crushed, but a wish come true fills you with joy.
Clearly a crushed heart cannot feel joy but saddness. We must rebuild hope through love
"Various spiritual teachings say that there are only two fundamental emotions: love and fear. For the body, this is true. All mammals, including humans, have two opposing hormonal responses to stimuli. Threatening stimuli cause an increase of stress hormones—adrenaline (short term ) and cortisol (long term ). Soothing or reassuring stimuli cause an increase in oxytocin. " (fear brings stress on the body... love sooths )
The only answer to fear is love.. love of self first ... then to othersI'm not saying I have any easy answers but this is the place we must reach...
there are many good comments on this thread as to why ex-JW's are in a dreadful place
Changing our thought patterns and thinking is not easy.
I will never forget my fathers words (went through WW2 ) so I think he knew a thing or two about fear
Another person was belittling a person to my father saying " his nerve trouble is all in his head "
These following words ring so true today for me , what Dad sayed.. "Well your head is a pretty damned important part of your body.. don't you think ?

i am the second oldest and babysat him often while he was growing up --- and while i was still at home.. yesterday, albert was out taking his usual morning stroll around his small town, when he collapsed on the sidewalk.
the doctors said it was a heart attack.

Wishing you hope , inner strength and peace
"It is common that a death of a sibling brings upon a search for meaning" You have given meaning to his life
And the lesson for which we all can learn... love and compassion
What a lovely memorial to have shared with us... a man of music and unconditional love
it will stand here for many years for others yet to read
thanks for sharing

Cofty ... I stand corrected.... in your last post...

Cofty i said, yes because the purpose was not to kill the baby, the babys death was not the goal - Unstop
Is not he saying if the sole purpose was to get rid of the baby.. it would be wrong... but yes the baby is going to die
with the purpose of saving the mother ? The idea is so unthinkable or repulsive that he wishes not to use the word kill.
Much like we call a death sentence by the state an excution not murder or killing ... but has the same end result.
... just as when a close family member dies many prefer to say "I heard your dad as passed away "rather than
the blunt "I hear your old man is dead"

and how many felt that they wanted to kill a baby? How many in WW2 ... wanted most to kill Nazi's ?

Well, if life starts with breath, then it's not shameful, is it caliber? How am I to deal with if's but with another if ?
If my next door neighbor seeded a garden and I went over and dug up the seeds
and then said no I didn't destroy "your plants" because they were just seeds which you planted in the ground
Shouldn't potential , natural development mean anything ? Potential stages are started
Would you respect your neighbors right to protest that because of your actions he will have no produce this fall ?
Why do I need science to try and explain such common sense things ?
As far as God breathing life into Adam before he was considered a living being ; this simply might mean giving him the spirit or spark to begin life
which yes, required breathing air as well as a heart beating. ( because Adam never was in a womb ..needed natural breath right now ! )
P.S. the bible is silent on the matter of brain activity.. the brain activity that I most worry about is that of the 'would be mother'
If I take the spark plugs out of a car...can I still call it a car ? ..... it will not run

Do you totally disagree with my statement that the teen pregnancy rate in the US, especially the southern states of the US, Nicaragua, and Chile, are shameful?
You realize that a drunk driver that kills someone has to be put on suicide watch. Because they feel like a horrible person for performing a horrible
act.
What does this prove ?
The most shameful and hurtful act you can do is to take another humans life so why do it... if given another viable choice ?
There are two kinds of evil: moral and natural... both can cause death , pain & guilt.. intent is what is the difference in the two
however
but it may not lesson our burden of heart... death is grievous beyond belief
What might be greater than shame ? lifetime of haunting self judgement for things we did have control over
