Do your words count on J.W.D. ?

Quirky,
I understand what you're saying, but sometimes if our statement are so cut and dried that nothing more can be said.
If you really nail a topic people may be inclined to say.... well I couldn't have said it better , end of story..
on the other hand controversy draws statements both pro and con !

10 Years!!
by Soledad inthis month marks 10 years since i sent in an "estimados hermanos" letter to my local kingdom hall, telling them to leave me the *&&^ alone.
10 years of freedom from the cult!!.
i've been criticized a lot in the past for writing the letter and playing "their game.

I applaud your bravery, I am sure that indeed there is a feeling of great freedom. I think that is the point though, none of us should judge
timing and circumstances for when others leave and how they leave.

Farkel,
You make many interesting observations...long term membership gives you an overall birds eye view of the board. Most of your comments
come down to purpose and intent of individuals which in turn results in some strong group intent that dominates.I Think one reason
people try to be creative in topic is because like you say most of the biggies 607, blood, UN have been covered. Majority
rules by the very nature of the forum set up. As for the social aspect I have come to realize so many people have suffered
and continue to suffer ...one person even said that her counselor told her JWD is your group therapy. If you took away all those
without family, divorce, sexual, emotional, money issues the board would be small indeed. I guess getting your life back
on track starts at home, otherwise it's like preaching to a starving man .
I also appreciate your advice on rule of forum Etiquette.. good to remind ourselves. However again new ones usually just jump in
as I did..knowing nothing about forums .For example one person said to a newbie..... usually you introduce yourself first before
just jumping into debates...sorry but that's what I did too !!
Thank you very much for this informative and thought provoking post

Eyes are the Window of the soul
by caliber inscientists discover that eyes really are 'the window to the soul'left: distinct contraction furrows (marked '3') - a sign of the person being neurotic.
right: numerous 'crypts' lines going away from the iris (marked '1') - this signifies a warm-hearted and trustworthy person.
the eyes really are a window to the soul, according to scientists.. patterns in the iris can give an indication of whether we are warm and trusting or neurotic and impulsive, research has found.. everyone has a different structure of lines, dots and colours in their iris.. so scientists at orebro university in sweden compared the eyes of 428 subjects with their personality traits to see if these structures in the iris reflected their characters.. they focused on patterns in crypts - threads which radiate from the pupil - and contraction furrows - lines curving around the outer edge - which are formed when the pupils dilate.. their findings showed those with denselypacked crypts are more warmhearted, tender, trusting, and likely to sympathise with others.

I don't have the answer to your question but in your post your mention of hardcore rationalists, made me think of this story..
Visitor to our house says... why do you want a fireplace..they don't give proper heat...smelly.. time and fuss etc.
Granddad says.. "What's wrong with you, don't you understand atmosphere and romance ? Nothing more needed
be said at that point . When you take the aw out of awesome it doesn't look that good any more !

The Missing Link
It's time to upgrade your listening skills. The first step is to stop relying on what you hear someone say and start paying attention to what you see. Interestingly, 93 percent of what is communicated between two people is nonverbal. That's right, only 7 percent of communication is the spoken word. We regularly neglect a significant part of language-the 23 percent that comes from tone of voice and the 70 percent spoken through body language. If you become fluent in all three areas of language, you'll be able to see obvious signs of attraction that you might otherwise overlook.

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder... I guess that the value of your words is the same.

Eyes, body language and posture may not seem important, but then why not ask a lion trainer if he bothers
to notice these things ?
