Our COs apartment just got renovated last year; 65k worth of materials. All the labor was volunteered. Beautiful cabinetry, new appliances, hard wood floors... the place is gorgeous. The cable expense is pretty standard. Our COs cable bill is around $95 (includes cable and broadband internet). Our new CO loves starbucks. He can't start the day without a cup of starbucks coffee. His weekly out-of-pocket expenses are between $185 - $250. We received a letter a few months ago from NY. All CO expenses don't require a resolution from the congregation. They are to be treated like a water bill or gas bill (a regular congregation expense). I think NY is aware of the amount of money some of these guys spend.

when i saw a bill from the satellite tv company i could not refrain from opening it.. seems like the congregation is flipping the $88 a month for the c.o.
to watch tv.. the billing was not personalized to the co, but to the congregation.

feenex: I agree, some of the most wonderful people i have ever met are gay. But they practice sin (according to the bible). I guess we will never agree. Back to the original post, I have never and will never treat anyone with unkindness and disrespect. JWs as a whole share that view. It may not be practiced by everyone, but they will be held accountable for their actions. Thanks everyone for the discussion. If I didn't address everyone's comments, I'm sorry. I tried. feenx: I don’t think the articles conflict; I say the articles complement themselves. Again being gay is a combination of many factors. Including Satan? It may be. How do you prove that it isn't? dawg: You are equating pleasure with happiness. That may be true for you, but may not be true for everyone. Getting high may be pleasurable, but does not bring me happiness. Being drunk may be pleasurable, but the day after is not full of happiness. I understand your point-of-view. But I don't think it's shared by everyone.

gopher: I think i stated the dictionary definition as well... Also, I don't think the accurate viewpoint has been established by science. Scientific research is all over the place. WTS publication have always stated practicing homosexuality is a sin... because the bible says it's a sin. Can it be unlearned? I don't think there is scientific research that says it can't be unlearned. I've certainly read personal statements from people who support the argument that it CAN be unlearned. Even now, in 2007. About the orchestra statement... that’s another topic.

devilsnok: The rate of gay suicide is 4 times higher than heterosexuals in the US. It's society as a whole that instills a sense of guilt and shame. Blaming JWs is a stretch; wouldn't you agree? Also, a person is disfellowshipped for not repenting. A gay person will be disfellowshipped for practicing homosexuality. Not for having homosexual desire. Just like someone will be jailed for stealing a car. They certainly wouldn't be jailed for wanting to steal it.
