Why would the FDS only send this notice to POs? Sounds like a loyalty test -- which they failed. Maybe there is some truth to the jan 13 rumor (PO position to be eliminated).

CONFIRMED Book Study amalgamated with the TMS and SM

the same very, very reliable source has confirmed that the book study will be amalgamated with the tms and sm.. this same source recently had a long and private conversation with a gb member.

very interesting topic. I have a copy of the letter that is to be read on sunday 27; and it's about the convention hotel problems. However, one more free night during the week sounds good.

Elder confirms "changes are ahead" but did not elaborate
by truthseeker inthe elder conducting the wt study said that changes were imminent but did not elaborate so unless someone spills the beans between now and next week, i guess we'll all have to wait.. right now we have three possibilities:.
1) the meetings are being restructured - rumors suggest that the congregation book study may no longer be held at private homes.
however, if they are held at kingdom halls, this will have significant impact on congregations that already share a kingdom hall.. it has been suggested that most announcments are made at the service meeting and i concur, but if this is a restructuring of meetings, then it would make sense to announce this on a sunday as the public would be present and the handbills will have to change.. if the book study stays perhaps it will be conbined with the school and service meeting with a question and answer review of the material with no paragraphs read.. .

the big announcement is.... "2) The BOE letter on staying only at hotels on the recommended list during the District Convention ..." The letter is to be read 3 times; including sunday after the WT study. Just like the letter announcing the 2009 international conventions...

The study edition is not for widespread distribution. But if anyone wishes to obtain a copy, all they need to do is ask. That's what the letter to the congregations said. If you want a copy, just ask to be placed on a magazine route, and it will be delivered to your door. That's a fact! A lot of false rumors have been posted on this board about the study edition. But there is nothing secret about the study edition; it's on the internet for global distribution. We have two 'inactive' publisher in our congregation who have requested this arrangement. It's in the letter to the congregations folks (I believe a copy is posted somewhere in this forum).

That has been proven to be a false apostate rumor. One of many posted on this board. If you want a copy of the magazine call your local congregation. They will deliver them to your door.

If the nature of the event is theocratic i.e. last Saturday's memorial, it doesn't matter what literature you quote. Subjection to Jehovah is 1st. ("Respect Jehovah's Authority" dvd.) If the event is not theocratic you should write to the branch and inform them quoting the information presented here.

i was kind of shocked to see that when it comes to the percentage of members who are divorce jw's pulled an extra 2% over the national average.
in this research poll only three groups come in higher than jws and two of them go under the categories of other christians & other faiths.

2007 peak JWs in the US was 1,084,005. Divide that by the research sampling of 215 and you get about .0198% of JWs. It will be interesting to see the full report. Pew has withheld some questions for further release.

The sampling for JW households was 215 with a +-7.5% margin of error. Question 18 is a good indication about the "quality" of the sampling. It asks "Would you describe yourself as a "born again" or evangelical Christian, or not? 17% of so-called JWs answered yes. (huh? Really, these people are JWs?) The marriage question asks "Are you currently married, living with a partner, divorced, separated, widowed, or have never been married?" 1% of so-called JWs answered they are living with a partner (huh?). Also, the questions does not ask if they became divorced as a JW, it simply asks about their CURRENT status. Oh and the "I know 5 JW couples that are divorced" statement is not research folks.
