So much for the accusation of 'members-only' and 'secret' watchtower.

Letter sufficient grounds for DFing?
by dozy ina question here mainly for ex-elders etc , though all input would be helpful.. a letter that i wrote some time ago confidentially to an elder regarding the usual issues about the gb etc has come into the hands of a couple of members of the congregation who are regarding it a prime facie evidence that i am an apostate.
though the letter isn't especially incriminating as such , it does flag up several mistakes that the wtbts has made.
the brother has described me as "verging on apostate.".

The letter is grounds for a judicial committee. The two witness rule does not apply since you have confessed in writing. The elders have a duty to help you. They should have met with you to discuss your doubts and put a sincere effort to changing your mind (Galatians 6:1). If after all efforts you continue to hold to your apostate beliefs you s/b disfellowshipped. But if you have been promoting your views in the congregation; that's a different story. You are going to have a very difficult time convincing the JC that your repetence is sincere. At that point you are considered a threat to others.
I would see the letter as a 'sheep' crying out for help and encourage the BOE to help you. I tell friends all the time... you don't get disfellowshipped for your sins. You get disfellowhipped for your attitude during the JC.

LATEST BIG RUMOR: WTS calls a moratorium on ALL KH construction in US & Canada
by sir82 inbased on an informal conversation this past weekend.... an elder with "connections" to the local rbc stated that he heard that the society was instituting a moratorium on all kingdom hall construction in the us and canada.
any projects for which funding has already been arranged will continue, but as of now, no new kh construction loans are being approved by the society.. there are enough projects in the pipeline that rbcs will still be busy for the next year or 2, but after that....who knows?.
my thoughts:.

FYI, the WTS owns all the halls. They drive this poing before any build or remodel. The Hall is a Kingdom Interest and is owned and controlled by the branch. I was told we are one congragation, "Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses". One congregation! I got the feeling the branch will eventually asume control of all the local funds and distribute the funds as they see fit to remodel and maintain KHs.

I was informed it will be very difficult to get a loan in the US for a few years. There is a great need of halls internationally and the funds donated to KHAA will be used for that purpose. US halls should finance their own remodels/builds. And when US congragations decide to do so, the local congregations will have no say in how the money is spent. RBC will contol the funds and ensure they are used for the project wisely. Apparently some halls are being overly decorated and money is not being spent wisely. I was told you can build a decent hall in africa for about $5000, and some halls in the US are spending that much in a sound system.

Limiting comments by kids during WT Study
by navytownroger ini was told recently by a ministerial servant that the word had come down from above that from now on only two comments by children will be allowed during the wt study.
the reason: the meetings are geared to adults, not children.
has anyone else heard of this policy??

this is old news....*** w03 9/1 p. 22 Praise Jehovah “in the Middle of the Congregation” *** The one conducting will not necessarily call on the first person who raises his hand. This could discourage those who need a little time to formulate their thoughts. By waiting briefly, he will give someone who has not already commented the chance to do so. He will also show discernment by not calling on small children to answer questions dealing with subjects that are beyond their comprehension.

Bethelite: Elder burnout, R&F disillusionment led to book study change
by pseattle2 inplease visit the blog: http://governingbodyletters.blogspot.com/2008/05/bethelites-viewpoint-on-recent.html.
a bethelite's viewpoint on the recent organization changesto me the most obvious reason has nothing to do with control, or money.
it has everything to do with the serious shortage of qualified brothers who can (or who are willing to) be used.

This is what i suspected from the beginning. Burn-out is a huge problem in my area. In my hall the publisher to elder ration is 1/35. In another hall it's 1/55 (only 2 elders). Not to mention work, family, household responsibilities and personal study time; it really is too much. Add to that the occasional “the elders aren’t doing enough” attitude/comments from publisher and the CO; it makes you wonder if it’s worth-it. I tried voicing my concerns to another elder and I got the boilerplate remark of "I don't trust in Jehovah enough, I need to pray more etc..." Similar comments from the CO. Glad to see the word is getting thru to the big wigs. Future streamlining wish list... 1) Eliminate the "Pioneer's Assist" program (huge waste of time) 2) Eliminate the "Pre Service Meeting". 3) Allow shepherding to count towards service time. 4) Allow women to perform some of "mechanical" tasks (PO assistant, Secretary Assistant... etc).

Letter
by d.boon inabout two or three years ago do you remember (if you were on the body at that time) that the c.o.

(Acts 20:27-28) . . .. 28 Pay attention to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the holy spirit has appointed YOU overseers, to shepherd the congregation of God, which he purchased with the blood of his own [Son].. . . I remember having a conversation with our CO. He mentioned some elders are appointed without the holy spirit's directions. When a BOE overlooks flaws and recommends an elder, his appointment may go thru the human channels, but the appointment is never 'sealed' in heaven. In due time, Jehovah makes the adjustment. However, the damage to the congregation can be high. A man can serve for a while w/o spirit, but eventually he will stumble. He mentioned Saul as an example.

WT to start download of Kool-Aid edition of WT soon.
by hamsterbait ini reckon that the wt is going to go down the line of giving publishers their own password so they can download specific litterature from the web.
the passwords will be doled out by the elders, to whom the bethell in each country will send them.
(each one will identify a specific witless) .
