A solid spherical object has a hole drilled through its center (in one side and out the other). The hole is seven inches long. What's the volume of material left in the remaining perforated object?
Ok, the diameter of the hole doesn't matter or you would have given us that information.
So if the hole is very very thin, the sphere is still almost completely solid and has a diameter of 7".
So to calculate the volume of the solid spherical object, use the formula V = (4/3) pi * r^3 , pi = 3.14, r = radius = 7/2.
The volume of material left in the remaining perforated object is:
V = (4/3) pi (7/2)^3 = 4.19 * 42.875which is approximately 179.50 cubic inches.
Do I win?

Nope. I knew I was going to die at Armageddon disfellowshipped. Scared the crap out of me. Obviously not enough for me to go running back to the Kingdom Hall and fall on my face and beg for forgiveness, but it still scared me.

"The Savages" New Movie about caring for your OLD, FORGETFUL parents
by Magick inmany of us are at the age where we have or are currently caring for our aged parents.
some of us have to deal with them not even remembering who we are....that we are their children.... because of some old person's disease.. if you've read my recent posts, you'll know that i recently have had some strong emotions come up because of this.
i received some good advice and a lot of love & compassion from people who have been where i'm at or at least could certainly empathize.. we as former jehovah's witnesses & jehovah's witnesses have even more tension added to the aging situation.

This hits too close to home for me. My parents are in their early 80's. They are still very sharp minded though, especially my dad. He's never had an unspoken thought. But that's what makes him cool!
My thoughts are with you Magick.

by dawg inok, i'm not picking on jc cannon pre se, but from what i've read he actually has the belief that he's jesus, come down as a homosexual and black, becasue god got tired of us red heads and wanted a new representive... one that was black and gay... you know that crazy god, he gets sick of shit after a while and abandons it... he must be tired of the red headed straight jesus and now wants a change..... then i think of my family, they still believe the jw bulll.... after all the evidence they believe.... then i think of nazi germany, what a bunch of nutjobs there..... and jim jones and david koresh and those now that belive all that zeigist shit.... and so on and so on.... so here's the question... what the ever loving hell is wrong with these people?
good freakign god what the hell is wrong with you?
and you know what< i'm freaking serious...please tell me why you will believe any bullshit that comes down the pike... and sorry to say this any religion is right there in this debate... come on guys, what are you really smoking?

I think people are looking for someway to fill whatever empty space they have in their life. Religion seems like the perfect answer for some. Whether it's looking for fellowship, a need to be worshipped, a reason to explain the wickedness in the world, or an answer to why we are here on the earth, religion seems like the answer to some.
The extremists, like Jim Jones, David Koresh and the JWs exploit an individual's weakness to suck them in and keep them emotionally hooked.

World to end March 2008???
by GetOverIt inthis is very lengthy, if anyone has time, i'm interested in opinions.
i haven't gone over it thoroughly.
it also identifies jw's as having know become known as a false religion and uses a lot of chronology.. http://www.unwatchtower.com/.

Apostate of the Month planning thread.
by wanderlustguy inokeydokey, i started communicating with one of the moderators about this, and i haven't heard back yet, but it doesn't seem like there should be an issue if we are nice about this whole thing, maybe it can be fun.. first off, if no one wants to do it, no point.. <deleted by wlg>.
third, the idea is not to raise someone up on a pedestal, but to recognize personal progress and/or the help given to other people, even if it's just creating a pleasant environment.

Drop the jackass of the month and just honor the apostate of the month. My opinion, but I think JA of the month could cause hurt feelings.

How many Christmas yard ornaments is too many I ask?
by erynw inthere is a house in my neighborhood that has to hold the record for christmas decorations in their yard.
the neighborhood i live in has one road in and out so we can't avoid this eyesore.. i swear, they have every inflatable, plastic, lit up, wire formed, animated yard decoration that has ever been manufactured.
it looks like k-mart threw up in their yard.. they have enough lights on the house, bushes, trees, eaves, roof, fence to signal the mothership into a safe landing from any galaxy in the universe.

That was awesome Para! If my neighbors had that, I would park my butt on their yard every night. Thanks.
I'm going to go take some day pictures of the neighbors and I'll post them here in a bit.
