Please tell me this is a joke. There is no way they are engaged. If they are, then they both have major issues...meaning they are both a little off in the head.

I went to Pioneer School, three times...so there
by Quarterback indon't you just hate it.
a school that strokes the egos of r-pioneers.
there is no school for publishers.

I left shortly before I was suppose to go back for a second time. Honestly, I didn't see the point of it. I think they are running out of new pioneers to fill the class. In my area, some are on their third time going back.

I've considered it but was concerned about the stability of the parents. I don't think you get to meet them before hand or at least that's what I was told at an information session in my area.

I remember GB members at the airport after an international convention, the witnesses we taking pictures of them like they were celebrities. Had non- JWs wondering who they were. Security had to stop people from taking pics as they went through the security line...I was right behind him. And they each have an assistant. I didn't see any of them (or their wives) touch or handle a bag or their check-in process...I was right behind them.
It was summed up nicely by a young pioneer who said "Seems kind of strange for them to get on a plane just like the rest of us. You would think they would return by the hand of Jehovah or something more spiritual than flying on a plane."
This informed me that many JWs see the GB as supermen but I was happy for the experience at the airport as it showed they really are just a bunch of men.

New light Watchtower magazine leaked from organization weeks ahead of general release
by cedars inhttp://jwsurvey.org/governing-body-2/new-light-watchtower-magazine-leaked-from-organization-weeks-ahead-of-general-release.
if doctrinal explanations are missing from the article, it is because they are also missing from the magazine.. i would like to give my thanks again to my source for supplying me with the magazine article weeks ahead of its scheduled release.
it showed remarkable courage, because risks were taken.

I remember in years past when articles like this would give JWs such a feeling of importance and urgency.

Same here, I got nothing. What a relief! Didn't even know the date of the memorial until seeing it on the this site over the weekend.

100 Years of Disappointment on the Horizon
by mrquik ineven as an elder, i had doubts as to this being "the one true religion".
i personally had chosen 2014 as one of those "make or break" dates.
fortunately, i left years ago.

My "make or break date" was 2012. I didn't last that long. One of the final wake up calls for me was seeing a black man elected as POTUS. It didn't have anything to do with politics but struck me at my core that we live in a world of possibility. Which is completely contrary to what's taught by the Jehovah's Witnesses religion.
Honestly, I didn't understand why all the minorities just didn't get up and walk away. I understand now and hope that maybe 2014 will have a few folks scratching their heads.

The FIRST Memorial Ive missed in 41 years
by Londo111 inlast year, my last jw memorial, i listened to the talk as an outsider would.
the speaker strung unrelated texts together and for the first time, i saw that the interpretations made no sense.
afterward, i had a private memorial with homemade unleavened bread and wine with four people--three of whom partook.

Congrats on your increased freedom! Raised-in and this was my third year not going. The first time, I worried if some calamity would befall me. This year, I completely forgot about it.
No calls or invites to the memorial or the dinners afterwards. No calls from family & "friends" asking how many we're attendance and if anyone partook. Nothing.
