i don't know whether to laugh or cry.. a friend lent me coc yesterday and i stayed up most of the night reading it.
it took me 13 hours and i skipped the meeting today to keep reading, i couldn't bear to put it down.. i am shocked but not surprised at how closely ray's thinking mirrors my own in some ways.

this week, my wife called me an "opposing husband" - because i stopped believing that jehovah chose the watchtower society as his sole channel on earth.. .
my wife knows about the society, it's flip-flop on doctrines, child sex abuse scandals, including the un, but none of that matters.. .
she doesn't read the litertaure, not even the bible.. .
Ask yourself, if you met your wife today, for the first time, would you still want to marry her?
Also, if you suggest marriage counselling, and she objects, then she's the bad guy, not you.
'changeling', since I don't know any more details about your situation, all I can say is... "Elderly Care Facility" is not a bad word, if done right. There are people who do this for a living. Professionals that know a lot more than you [no offence]. I was in a situation like that last year, and my wife and I realized the best thing for my mother would be a home for the aged. I won't go into the gory details, but in the long run everyone is happier [including my mother]. You deserve to have a life of your own, regardless of whether your parents are JWs or not.
I guess I should get back to the topic... the only thing holding me back is PERFECTIONISM.

not long ago, i would have defended them slightly with opinions about those 'under mind control' etc.
but the further i get from jw think, the more i believe that jw's are just plain mean and hateful asses!
two situations that i relate in my life.. 1- an elder i know works in a grocery store.
I'm sure that some of the people in JW land are like that, but I believe that most are just afraid. Anyone who belongs to a cult will show these symptoms. I feel pitty for theses people.
