I will pray for Colleen at 10:00. I'm a little rusty, but I still believe. She's so fortunate to have a loving cousin like you.

the following is a letter i want to send:.
dear.
i understand that you are associating with jehovah?s witnesses.
Thanks, guys!
I will add the link to freeminds. I don't want these people or the one who studies with them to know it's me. In fact, I wish i could make it sound as if it wasn't even coming from a witness, but still be credible.

Hi all,
The following is a letter I want to send:
Dear
I understand that you are associating with Jehovah?s witnesses. They are very sincere people, and most lead an exemplary life. However, there are several things you may not
know about them--in fact many of the faithful are unaware of what their leaders are doing.
The child abuse scandal, in which allegations of child abuse are not always handled properly and very often not reported to the authorities. They may claim to take it seriously, but the main objective is to ?not bring reproach upon Jehovah.? Therefore, any hint of wrongdoing, especially when it involves this sort of activity, is often stifled. Log on to www.silentlambs.com for some truly heart-breaking accounts of child abuse.
The Watchtower?s ?partnering? with the UN. You probably know from your studies that the witnesses believe that the United Nations is the Scarlet colored ?Wild beast? pictured in Revelation. The harlot riding the Beast pictures all false religions. Naturally, the witnesses would be no part of this harlot riding the beast.
However, it was revealed that the Watchtower became an NGO (Non Governmental Organization) in the UN. They also signed up with DPI (Department of Public Information) in which they pledged to support the ideals of the UN in their publications. This occurred in 1992. In 2001 it was revealed that they were members of NGO and DPI, and they quickly withdrew their association. They have given various excuses for this period of association, to those who ask, otherwise they remain mute. The UN entered a document on their website, in which they expose the Watchtower for its duplicity. You may read about it at www.un.org/dpi/ngosection/watchtower .
These are only two examples of the Watchtower not being completely honest with their followers. There are many, many more, and these are available if you do some research. Another website to check is www.jehovahs-witness.com This is a discussion forum made up of witnesses, former witnesses and some who have never joined the organization.
Please take the time to investigate the Watchtower thoroughly, as they encourage you to do with whatever religious beliefs you had when first contacted by them. Remember, once you formalize your membership with them, you may not question the authority of the leaders of the organization. They may deny this, but believe me, it is the truth.
And always remember, the ?Truth? if it is true, will stand up to scrutiny.
Sincerely,
A Concerned Person
Any advice or stuff I missed? Thanks in advance.

mike sends his regards and apoligies for his absence for a few days.
he is in hospital having a few tests done and doesn't have access to computer facilities at the moment.. his 'ticker' is misbehaving - i think it must be short of beer!

anyone ever read this poem: http://www.artofeurope.com/larkin/lar2.htm?
[warning to those who may be offended: the poem contains the "f" word (although it's not used in a sexual sense).
] does anyone have any thoughts on it or any personal applications, particularly if you were raised as a jw?
I wasn't raised in the truth, but you don't necessarily have to be in order to be fu**ed up. My parents were fu**ed up, too. In fact, we came from a long line of fu**-ups. And that's why I don't have any kids.

my mom's nursing home called today to tell me that the doctor recommended that she go on hospice care.
they said she has entered the last stage of alzheimer's and is not taking in nutrients, just liquids.
i'm going there tomorrow morning to fill out the necessary release forms.

I am so sorry. It doesn't seem to matter how old our parents are, or how old we as children are. It's still our Mom, and losing her hurts like hell. Just remember that she had a full and important life.
Love,
Kat

what does the name jehovah's witnesses mean?
jehovah is the personal name of god, as found in the bible.
a witness is a person who relates facts from direct personal knowledge or proclaims views or truths of which he is convinced.
I was going to post this observation, until I saw you had started a topic on it. Yesterday, I checked out jw media and found the following:
Those who become inactive in the congregation, perhaps even drifting away from association with fellow believers, are not shunned. In fact, special effort is made to reach out to them and rekindle their spiritual interest. If, however, someone unrepentantly practices serious sins, such as drunkeness, stealing or adultery, he will be disfellowshipped and such an individual is avoided by former fellow-worshipers.
Last year I wrote a letter to one of the elders, explaining how we felt, and that we simply were not interested anymore, this is the quote that I used in January 2003:
Those who simply leave the faith are not shunned. If, however, someone unrepentantly practices serious sins, such as drunkenness, stealing, or adultery, he will be disfellowshipped and such an individual is avoided by former fellow-worshipers. Every effort is made to help wrongdoers. But if they are unrepentant, the congregation needs to be protected from their influence.
We've pretty much been left alone, until yesterday, when this same elder's wife stopped by. So we're on their radar again. I also brought up the UN thing, she didn't know anything about it, and was a bit condescending in telling me "of course the UN would lie " when I told her to go to their website.
I am so disgusted.
