So when he asks God why He didn't provide, God will reply 'Well, I sent you a generous brother and I sent you a great job, but you knocked both back - what else did you want me to do?
LOL @ Max, you nailed it!

as some of you know from my sharing portions of my story on this board before, i disassociated myself from the jehovah's witnesses in 2001. my family, including my mother, sister, and brother, remain jehovah's witnesses.
i have an extremely limited relationship with my mother and sister.
i possess no relationship whatsoever with my brother, his wife, and their now 1 yr old son.

Reborn2002,
Your brother sure is a dumb ass, I should know I was as big a dumb ass too, maybe even bigger.
My brother and I both worked in the aerospace industry and at one point worked for the same company. He was an aircraft mechanic by trade, and I was an engineer. The Watchtower boys said I cant do this type of work anymore because some of it was military related; but dont worry Jehovah will provide, quit your job and just trust in God.
So I became a TV repairman, a part time janitor, and even a security guard. Much harder work and still did not make the money I could be making at my old job, but boy I sure made Jehovah happy.
Observing all the changes I was now making in my life, my brother said to me you really buying all this Watchtower stuff? Ok well its your life but I think they are full of shit.
I struggled to pay my bills for years and years, but Jehovah was so happy with me.
Then one day out of the blue I got a shot at my dream job, a Job doing work for NASA. It was as a consultant and so it only would last about 4 months, but it paid big bucks! This job required me to fly down to Maryland each week and so I missed some meetings.
You guessed it, I got a good talking to by the brothers. But I explained that the job would be over in about another month or so and I really needed this money to pay off my debts.
Oh please please please dont make me quit another high paying job again!
These fine elders said I had to choose between the meetings or NASA. Add to this the fact that I was then offered this type of work at NASA full time and also was told they would move me and my family down to Maryland and pay for all expenses, even pay for a house hunting trip etc.
Dream Job, Big Bucks, Expense Paid Move, Good Benefits etc.
Or
Hard Meaningless Work, Low Pay, And Five Shitty Boring Meetings A Week
Now let me think, what do I want to do?
Long story short, I took the job made the move to Maryland and never spent one day regretting the decision. It was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life. I really have to thank these elders for helping me see the light.
So you see Reborn2002, I was the dumb ass but I did wise- up. Yes, it took time, a lot of time, but I got smarter. So m aybe, just maybe in time so will your brother.
Dont give up hope dude, some times we dumb asses do finally see the light.
Best wishes to you and your family.
Freeman (a dumb ass no more)

if i had to answer this i suppose i would say im not sure which one i believe, i have always wondered why the universe is so huge and always wondered what its role is and how it affects us.. im always fascinated when i look up at the sky and think to myself i feel so small in such a huge universe a sought of cold isolated feeling is what i experience and then i think, i wonder why this planet came to support life after all it was supposedly all happened by chance.. dont get me wrong im no scientist but i think i need more convincing regarding evolution.. can anyone help regarding these questions
Wow now we have jumped from evolution to physics, cool!
Pomegranate you said:
So I disagree with the commonly accepted theoretical model of a closed system. I plan on writing a paper on it.
I have some friends, my former workmates, who are still working at NASAs Space Physics Analysis Lab, and I was wondering if it would be OK with you if I forwarded your paper to some of them for their enlightenment.
I myself havent worked at in lab in several years so these new corrections that you will provide wont affect me too much, but these poor ignorant souls at the lab need to be corrected. You see for them, the proper understanding of physics, well, thats their bread and butter so they really need to know these new facts.
Do let us know when your paper is ready and I will be sure to pass it on.
Thanks

Just as an aside, I think Expatbrit raised an interesting and profound question, he said what is life?
Good question Expatbrit, but I have another, are viruses considered a life form?
For you theists I would advise you to use extreme caution when answering this simple question because your little world may get rocked.
I wonder, am I the only person on the planet that knows that a simple and viable virus was created in a laboratory a few months back? Yes I said created, not cloned created.
Granted it is the simplest of viruses and Im sure it took considerable expertise to create, but as it was described in the news the virus was created with ordinarily available material.
The crux of the story seemed to be the possibility of such homemade viruses being used as bio-terror weapons, but scarcely a word was said about how this achievement could affect peoples sensibilities, particularly those that hold strong religious views.
So again I ask the question; are viruses life? If so, then man just did in a laboratory what only God is supposed to be able to do.
Just something to think about

When I last looked at this thread there were like maybe 5 or 6 posts now its like 40. The Evolution vs. Creation subject always seems to generate a lot of activity.
JJRIZO let me respond to some specific things you said in response to my comment to Pomegranate.
Not to sound critical but how do you know what cellular life was at the beginning?
I never said I knew what life was like in the beginning; I said it is a mistaken assumption that cellular construction and function is the same now as it was in the beginning.
This is really quite interesting! You have all the knowledge of these things but you weren't there to witness them from the beginning?
I have never been to Poland but I am quite sure it exists and I am even more certain that the earth is round.
Now how do I know this since the closest I have every come to Poland is a sausage I ate once in South Jersey and admittedly I have never walked the entire length of the earth from end to end, so how can I be so sure?
I'll give you a hint, its not at all based on faith, and its based on KNOWN FACTS.
Hey I'll listen to anything you say but to be considered an authority on the subject, give me a break!
Did I say or imply that I was some type of expert in this field? Sorry if I came off that way.
I readily admit that Im not that well versed in any of the numerous evolutionary sciences that prove the fact of evolution, however I am obviously a little more educated on this subject then some posters. You see I too espoused almost identical arguments until I was further educated on this subject. Now that I know better, I just cant honestly make such arguments anymore.
As an example, when people say such things as this, they show their profound ignorance on this subject just as I once did:
If we evolved from apes, then why are there so many UNFIT TO SURVIVE apes still surviving if we are the species that was supposedly the fittest?
I made the same exact argument and it made perfect sense to me at the time, as Im sure it does to Pomegranate and other like-minded poster. One thing this poster did do is show how silly it would in fact be for anyone to believe that we descended from apes since the apes exist here with us. Too bad that is not what evolutionary science teaches, but IF it did you certainly would have a fine argument, you sure would.
Alas, evolutionary science in all it many disciplines does not teach that apes evolved into men, only that at some point we shared a common ancestor. And now at this stage of our understanding, that fact is indisputable right down to our common DNA.
I have to wrap this up now so let me a gain urge posters to truly investigate the subject for yourself, you will be truly amazed at what you dont know, I sure was.
PS: The acknowledgment of the fact of evolution is not inconsistent with the existence of a creator so dont worry about that. As for a literal interpretation of the Bible book of Genesis, thats a different story. Im afraid you are going to have some trouble with this after you learn the facts, sorry.

Pomegranate you raised some truly excellent arguments. I find them very similar to the arguments I raised some time ago.
Unfortunately, (and I dont mean this disparagingly), you are obviously ignorant on the subject of evolution and how the powerful forces of natural selection play upon development of bio-mechanisms. You are also under the mistaken assumption (as I also once was) that cellular construction and function is the same now as it was in the beginning.
I will not debate you on this subject, as it is not my intent to try and defeat anyone in a contest of ideas, but I do challenge you to investigate further. Nobody can tell you the answer; you must find this out for yourself just like I did.
You will know that you have sufficient knowledge on this subject when the excellent argument you presented above doesnt seem nearly so excellent anymore.

my neighbor told me today that last saturday the witnesses had been on our street.
i wasn't home at the time.
he said he told them about the dateline program and that he had seen the silent lambs web site.
Excellent, great job mommy!!!
More and more of this needs to be done; they need to hear this message over and over again because they just dont get it. They are still in a state of denial and until the governing body hears enough bad reports from the field they wont change this sick policy of protecting pedophiles over children.
As an aside, some of you know that I currently forbid my minor son from attending meetings because I strongly disagree with the Watchtowers unscriptural and un-Christian shunning and blood policies. I now add to the list their insane pedophile protection policy. Did I just coin a phrase, or does Bill Bowen own this one already? I like the sound of that, very catchy, the Watchtower Pedophile Protection Policy.
I have something planed for this weekend. I just cant wait to see the reactions from my wife and her dub friends when our cars start sporting silentlambs bumper stickers. And if she removes them she will have to explain to me why she supports pedophiles over children.
I cant wait!
Here you go honey, I just washed it and gassed it up for you, have a great day in service! LOL

just a reminder to all those willing volunteers out there!!
are your envelopes ready for posting?
there is still time for others who want to join in this mail distribution to support the silentlambs march on friday 27th september - just email me (
I got a bunch of SL envelops stamped and ready to go timed to arrive at Watchtower HQ and a number of New York Kingdom Halls on Friday the 27 th . Sure do wish I could be with you guys, but I was called away to work in California the last minute. I'm putting some fliers up at the local Kingdom Hall here too, just for good measure. Good luck guys, I hope you get tons and tons of press coverage!

strange things are happening here in oz after the "silent witnesses" was seen on the sunday programme today.
long-serving elders here in oz are getting unsettled already it seems.
without compromising certain individuals, we can say that phone calls to certain participants are being received.
Glad to hear it is shaking things up. Any chance of getting this program as a video file on the net, maybe putting it up on kazza as an avi or mpeg? I myself know many people in the states that need to see this also a copy to Bill Bowen would be a great idea too.

for some reason my real one player isn't showing the video so i don't know if it's my player or a problem w/the link.
anyway i saw this on the news last night and again this morning.
there is no telling where this woman is but somebody from somewhere must know who she is and i would think turn her in.
Prosecutors say the woman's sister, who had been with her in the store, has already been arrested. She faces charges of failing to report child abuse, while the child's mother could face felony battery charges in the Sept. 13 beating.
I'm shaking my head wondering why Jehovah's Witness Elders are not put in jail for failing to report child abuse, like this woman's sister was.
Is not child rape an even worse form of child abuse then just beating the kid?
It is a fact that this has happened hundreds of times behind the walls of the Watchtower and yet not one single Elder has ever gone to jail for not reporting the abuse. That is disgusting!
