Nothing like the JW philosophy of life to excuse rampant apathy, inaction, ignorance, stupidity, and an apalling lack of compassion for all that lives...
Ain't that the truth.

why is it that jw's are so big on this no blood thing, yet still eat blood in their meat?
the dubs i know claim to "cook out" the blood, but this in no way meets biblical standards.
in fact the way meat is slaughtered doesn't come close to meeting kosher requirements in the bible.
Nothing like the JW philosophy of life to excuse rampant apathy, inaction, ignorance, stupidity, and an apalling lack of compassion for all that lives...

the creation (belief) vs. evolution (unbelief) debate is like a trial.
the new scopes monkey trial i spoke of weeks ago.
i accept now the trial has already begun and continues to rage.
Jim, you said:
they still aren't sure if electrical flow goes from positive to negative or negative to positive??
I dont know where you get some of this misinformation from, but the direction of electron flow is most certainly known and has been known for some time.
As I recall a very basic law of the universe is that like charges repel and unlike charges attract. Two negatives will repel each other. A negative and a positive will attract each other. An electron itself has a negative charge.
The negative terminal of a battery will push negative electrons along a wire and the positive terminal of a battery will attract negative electrons along that same wire.
Electric current will therefore flow from the negative terminal of a battery, to the positive terminal. So Jim unless Congress or the Bush administration has somehow revised some very basic laws, thats the direction, the only direction it ever flows.

robert fripp.
guitar, soundscapes.
mellotron adrian belew.
For a number of years we have had an annual combo guitar show and concert at a university near where I live. We have had some pretty famous guitarist such as Peter Frampton who by the way is wonderful live. As I recall some years back we were fortunate enough to have had Fripp and one of the other original members of Crimson (cant remember which one) and did the show with several members of the Saturday Night Live band. When they did The Court of the Crimson King they brought the house down, wow it was just awesome!
My son tried to get the autograph of SNL lead guitarist (he knew him by sight because he saw him on TV all the time). This mad-dashing pony-tailed guitarist quite literally almost knocked my son down as he ran past bumping him with his guitar and small little amp he was carrying. As he then quickly pulled away in his vintage large tail-fined white Cat-O-Lack, I said to my son, never mind him, what about Fripp did you get his autograph? He replied who? I guess he was just to young to appreciate that he was chasing the wrong guy.

there was an elder at our hall ,when he would call on someone , he would help the brother with the mic to find the person.
he did this by saying: " sister little in the front"....hehehhe ,, of course being bored to death, this always cracked several us of rowdy back seat sitters up.. here are more examples from our old hall.
sister key , in the rear.
One poor guy I knew, an Elder, gave a public talk comparing Gods Spirit to water in a desert. Anyway at a very serious part in his talk he was supposed to say and they all died from lack of water, each and every one of them. But what he said instead was and they died from lack of hunger, the stupid dummies.
He looked really puzzled when people started laughing; Almost pissed my pants. He did a LOT of drugs in his youth.

sorry, i don't have time to search the site right now.
this bloody french isp is rubbish, and i keep getting dropped when i try anything that takes more than 10 seconds.
has the society ever come up with any intelligent reasoning to counter the ages that carbon dating/science has given to various artifacts, i.e.
What evidence?
Jesus Pomegranate,
Read a book, take a class, go to college, but for Gods sake take you head out of your ass and open your eyes!

I have always had a problem harmonizing the Theory of Evolution with that of creation. It has to be one or the other. And in my heart of hearts I would like evolution exposed as a great hoax. Yes I want to believe in a creator, and quite frankly I dont want my existence attributed to being the end product of a series of endless biological errors.
My problem is that the preponderance of the evidence to date is on the side of evolution; in fact its massive and growing all the time. I wonder, how we can overcome this?
Regrettably the strength of the creation argument seems not to be base on anything substantive and not empirical evidence, but rather is mostly based on the imperfection of Darwinism itself.
Darwinism is far from a perfect model in explaining the reality of evolution, but we are forced to admit it is a working model. You dont even need to go to the ends of the earth such as Darwin did to see these mechanisms in action, a number of fields of science clearly demonstrate some of the most basic precepts of the Darwin model.
What we who would like to believe in a special creation need is a working creation model. Unfortunately on our side, to date there is no model, perfect or otherwise. And I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if we ever are able to put forth such a model, it has to be nothing less then perfect. We dont have the luxury of having an imperfect model because anything less then Gods perfection is not acceptable.
I sure hope we can overcome all this evidence supporting evolution, but so far it doesnt look too good for our side.

i am an outsider ( a non jw from ) and just accidentally happened to follow a link to this site.
i have found these postings really interesting.
i would like to tell you a little story of my own too: i was a while ago in a situation where a dated a jw girl.
Joshua,
All that you are being told is quite true. You see the JW religion requires of its adherents a great deal. It not only requires large amounts of time, but it requires a full commitment of self.
Do you fully comprehend what this means?
The JW religion requires TOTAL LOYALTY, nothing less is acceptable! In fact a follower of the JW religion must place loyalty to Watchtower society above their own lives, even the lives of their own children. You must not only be willing to die for this religion should the need arise, you must do so Joyfully!
And because the commitment to the Watchtower is so firm, so embedded, any threat to the idea that the Watchtower is Gods only organization will trigger a number of mental protection mechanisms, not the least of which is rejection of the person threatening their little Watchtower world.
By pointing out the shortcomings of the Watchtower, I have threaten my wifes little Watchtower world; so I will never be close to her again. She thinks she is doing the right thing, and I understand that but it still hurts. I just cant tell you in words alone what a strain this has put on our marriage and on our family.
Im not normally one who would advocate that anyone should not be allowed to do as they please, however in hindsight, I wish there was a law that required all religions, particularly highly controlling religions such as the Watchtower to disclose all aspects of just what their religion requires of it's members before one joins.
Much like the truth in lending statement that must be provided before you commit to a loan, one should know all the hidden fees and costs before you sign on the dotted line.
And lastly, if after reading the full disclosure document, and deciding to go ahead with a commitment to this religion, trained competent psychologists should examine the perspective convert, because nobody in their right mind would willing join this cult if they knew all the facts as I do now.
