Help needed: your experiences of the internet and JWism

i am hoping some of you will find a few moments of time to reply to this request for help.

i am researching the impact of the internet on people's journey out of jwism.

i invite everyone to write anything from a sentence to a couple of paragraphs (or more, if desired) relating how the internet has affected your exit.

the internet gives exactly what i dont have in normal life.

- im not alone with my thoughts.
- im not dumb not to "see" its the one and only truth
- im not evil, to question so-called "truths". its NOT bad to question things at all. its bad to question one side and be forbidden to question the other.
- ive seen and could investigate into things i would've never seen in the isolated JW world.
- i didnt go crazy.
- i didnt commit suicide... (i really felt like doing it before i used the net. and i was in good standing, commited no d/fing sins or whatever. i just knew its not the truth but i felt stuck in it and guilty)

Time for a new great schism, apostasy, falling away, dissension?

"nineteen fourteen - nineteen schmorsteen" ?.

we've had some threads about this, but it seems the general consensus is that they cannot change the 1914 date - it is what the entire organization rests it's doctrine on.. but why do we say that, really?

at one time (and for many, many years), the years 1799 and 1874 were pivotal dates to the bible students.

"Das unerschutterliche Reich" German book by Henninges

as far as i know, henninges produced two books in german: "das unerschutterliche reich" (the unshakeable empire) and "die neue zeit" (the new time).. when i saw a copy of the former book in the 1970s, i photocopied the intro and contents pages, as well as the time chart.

Dinosaurs and the Bible

), how would you explain dinosaurs and the bible?

you'll laugh, but i learned as a kiddo, that the dinosaurs actually prove and underline gods might and love:

- he created these beasts somewhen while creation (with every day having unknown timespan could be anything even millions of years)
- he created them them for an unknown reason but likely for preparing the earth for us humans. pure love!
- he let them die out, because they werent necessary
- we dont know whether noah saw some of 'em, but this is just an uninteresting sidefact

conclusion:

a god who so carefully made the earth to be humans home and is so powerful to create and destroy such animals!! wow!!!

Nothing Impossible for Man

as a dub i never really thought about the concept, i simply accepted it.

i thought about this topic much too.

its one of the problems noone i ever met can explain. if the assumption that god waited before bringing armageddon to

a) save as much humans as possible

and

b) prove the point that mankind cant rule themselves

is true both statements are senseless.

because

a) every little day god waits more thousands by thousands of ppl are added to the pile of sinners and nonbelievers. actually the more god waits the MORE ppl will get killed on armageddon if the JW religion is true at all.

and

b) since mankind never had the chance to live "on their own" nothing is proven! floot, confusing language, israelites with god as their warlord, demons down to earth, etc, etc...

i never understood why this is righteouss at all. and this aint the only thing i never understood.

example: when god is love and more loving than any two parents can be... why does he kill his childs for stuff like "not obeying" and "not working at the fullest" or "being not faithful". and this all when there are wolves out to distract his childs. how would be a mother or father called who would act like that? it sounds more like slavery..

or

when free will is a gift and the choice to obey god is everyones personal choice... why do we need to DIE if we use it the wrong way. especially when were imperfect? wouldnt it be not more loving not giving us the ability to sin in first place? its like giving your child a knife and when it hurts itself with it you kill it, because it didnt use the knife properly :D and why are ppl who leave the jws are treated like a desease? my wife used to say: "everyone is completely free and can chose whether they wanna leave the org or not. and they knew the consequenzes before baptism." oh wow. especially when you knew them at your baptism at the age of 12 lol :D and JWs have exactly the same "free choice" to leave the org or not like someone who hears the words "give me your wallet or ill kill you. its your choice!".

GB on Airplanes

have you ever heard of anyone running into the gb on an airliner?

i have not and so that only leads me to believe that they charter jets to move them around the world.

how do they travel?.

I wonder if they make it a point to never travel in the same vehicle together at the same time, just incase ithey all die in a crash and the rest of the JWs don't know who to appoint next. Of course if they did that, that would be like admitting they weren't 100% sure God was with them...

this is what i thought is this thread is all about... what would happen, when they're all on one flight and the plane crashes rendering everyone dead... omg. for some it would be like god saying "they're wrong", others would think its just a random accident... and the other interesting thing is what would do their succeeders, when they would have a complete free hand to form the society...

An email from my Dad on Bible Chronology - Armegeddon's arrival

i cannot provide any background info on my dad except to say that he is not an attender anymore, but is not apostate.. years ago, my dad showed me why he thought 1975 was wrong, and he gave me a date like 2011, 2012...back in 2004.. it actually made sense to me back then, and obve's posts reminded me of my dad's calculations..... only my dad's calculations were not based on addition or multiplying of random crazy numbers, .

but actually were logical assumptions based on the scriptures as he understood them.. here is his email to me...it might be lengthy, but it is easy to follow and understand.

the problem is that 1914 is wrong in the first place.

the year 1914 is the main problem with the JW religion for me. i dont see any sense in it plus it was also based on pyramidology... i cant believe such stuff like it is truth. and i know god wouldnt expect that from his true followers.

why are we not all getting together as a group and get back at the borg for what they have done to us?

"there is strength in numbers" and definitely enough of us.

we have all suffered in similar ways, some more than others.

of course if there would happen such a thing JWs would see it as fulfillment of prophecy and as a final proof that they're the chosen ones.

still i have to say: if someone could prove me that such phenomena REALLY exists and cant be explained with something unsupernatural, i would go back to the jws immediately. it would be the only thing i could do.
