  i remember listening to jws on the stage at a convention talking about how the american legion busted up a meeting and tried to set up american flags in the hall.

  some topics generate hundreds of reads but few replies.

  others, well ... i'm not one for scientific studies.

  nor why one thing works and another will not, despite the time and effort put into it (whatever the thing/endeavor happens to be).. kindly inform me if you, in passing by and, having nothing better to do of a saturday eve, happen to see this post but have no intention of responding.. perhaps this is rocket science after all.. thank you for reading though finding no necessity to reply ....   Why did David bring Golaith's head to Jerusalem?

  why did david do this, especially when the city of jerusalem was over 20 miles away and also under jebusite control at the time?.

  I figure it's much like Colombus sticking his flag into the soil and saying, "I claim this land in the name of the King of Spain." Dave buried the head in Jebusite land and then proceeded to make war on all the surrounding areas. Wasn't his warlike land-grabbing ways one of the reasons he was not allowed to build the temple?

  Why all the excuses? The writer slipped up.

  I guess I'm not understanding what you are hunting for. Are you saying that the writer of the Samuels messed up because he used 'Jerusalem' for the place David took the head because it wasn't named that at the time due to being owned by Jebusites? All of the Samuels were written after the events took place, so it might not be that unusual for a writer to use the current name. Besides, even Moses recognized the city as Jerusalem in his day. Check out how he described Melchizedek in Genesis 14:18.
