  Tomorrow is my last day....

  from about 10 am (south african time) tomorrow - i won't be on the forum....for 2 weeks, i am going to miss this place!!!!

  there have been some fantastic topics, getting to know a few on here a little better.

  if i get to me mums' laptop i may pop in for a post or two.. i don't have a pee cee at home (i have refused to buy one because i'd sit on it 24/7).. so to all who do the vigil - i will be with you each tuesday praying for strength and wellness for each of you.. i wish you all an excellent christmas and new year - have an absolute blast..

  NEW WORLD TRANSLATION

  A Circuit Overseer visiting a Congregation raised this issue in one of
  his talks. He asked them, "why do we use the title ' New World
  Translation of the Holy Scriptures' on the cover of our bibles instead
  of 'Holy Bible' like most religions use?"
  
  The answer is truly amazing (see below). It really lets you see how
  the organization makes sure that every detail of our worship is
  pleasing to Jehovah. Amazing!!!

  The reason is….
  
  The word "bible" is not found in the scriptures. The word "Bible" is
  from the Greek—"Biblia" meaning books. The term began to be applied to
  the whole collection of sacred books in the 5th Century.
  
  The translation committee wanted to use a term that is actually found
  within the pages of these writings. Thus, when we read in the Bible
  about any references to holy writings, whether Hebrew or Greek, they
  are usually referred to as scriptures, therefore, the New World
  Translation of the Holy Scriptures.
  
  When you think about the translation committee and how important it
  was for them to have an accurate translation, even down to the title,
  it garners even greater respect for these men and the work they did.
  And of course the fact that they had the backing of the greatest
  personage in the universe… they couldn't go wrong.

  i havnt received mine yet, im just wondering how many others havnt either???

  just incase mine has been registered so it can be tracked.

  we have already had one bad experience this week, had to send on hubby's xbox console as it overheated and died, the post have "misplaced" it, im so glad we have it insured.. es.

  the way they can blatently lie.

  granted it's not all of them, but it's the ones' in ""power"" and your family (that's what happend to me) .

  I asked my JW bud why JW's shun. I told them how childish that was. He simply agreed, but said they don't. Who's giving me the bs? Him or about 2000 of you here?

  Most of the folks on here are disfellowshipped, disassociated or faded from the witlings. The first two: df'ed and da'ed are shunned by witnesses. The last category, faders, managed to slip away quietly, many to avoid the shunning that would have been on them if they were df'ed or da'ed. You have folks from all around the world, literally, on this site saying witnoids shun, so:

  Witnesses shun.

  I don't know if your friend is full of bs. It could be he doesn't understand the religion all that well himself or he may be trying to recruit you by engaging in 'theocratic warfare' and presenting as glamorous a picture (bahahahaha) of the religion as he can. It's been done before and it will be done again.

  unlike another post of someone trying to trick us into looking at the watchtower.org i am not doing that, i have an honest question regarding something that was on the site.

  i was actually looking up missing verses and other information.

  doing a little research of my own if you'd want to call it that.

  Mr. Eagle, I don't see how that can be. They came at Jesus Birth, not a long time later. It could not have been later cause Herod would have been after them, and God scared them in a vision to make them run away. Much later and he would have been a Herod Kills the Firstborn victim, and if Jesus had stayed around he would have stuck out like an uncircumsized PENIS. So if they came for the birth, and luke and Mathew both mention them being there and bringing gifts and WORSHIPING this lad, how could it have taken place much later???? And check this out when I looked into your "Young Child" point. Can you believe the word baby is only said ONE time in the Bible, and that by Jesus :

  It does appear by three writers, but he only said it once. Any more thoughts on the house/child thingy???.....oompa

  Okay, admittedly I am not very good at arguing biblical points. It's just not my 'thing' anymore, so bear with me. As far as I can tell the Magi would have visited the young Jesus sometime between 41 days after his birth and up to him being 2 years of age. Why? Because the passage in Luke says that Jesus was presented in the temple at Jerusalem along with his parents. Mary's 'unclean' state would have been over at 40 days (Lev 12:1-4). It was only after the Magi made their visit that Joseph was told in a dream to flee. If they had been fleeing or attempting to there wouldn't have been any time for the presentation.

  The possible two year old thing is just because Herod killed off all the children in Bethlehem 2 years and younger.

  Edited to add: If that argument doesn't make any sense, just consider the misunderstanding of the scriptures as my error. And have a Merry Christmas!

  14 years faded with an 'I don't care' attitude now. It took moving almost 180 miles away from the family to make it happen. Moving an additional 600 miles away and staying gone for almost 10 years sealed the deal.

  I wish I'd had the guts to DA or get DF'ed but I just didn't have the strength in me. Oh well, the end result is the important thing, gone is gone.

  I thought he was in a manger, barn, cave or something? How have I never nocticed a house?....................oompa

  Dr. Luke is the only writer that describes the birth of the Christ child and he does mention a manger or feeding trough. The quote above is from Matthew and may have taken place much later, "young child" later.

  ) back in july or whenever it was i've been fretting about not being an ordained minister.

  this was always important to me - to be an ordained minister is a valuable thing - thats why the jw's are proud to say they have 6.9m or so ordained ministers.

  I think that, uh...Sometimes it helps when I, er...My point is, um...nope, never used a blighter's clamp, what's it for?
