Now, Red, you know the old saying: Be careful of what you wish for, you just might get it!

In response to your question about the 'conscious thing' I have to say that personally, I think that with precious few exceptions everything should me a 'conscious thing'. If disfellowhsipping (I didn't say shunning) is to be practiced then let it be for things which no reasonalbe person could ever argue against. Let the rest be a matter of your own, personal conscious. Please note the word 'personal'.
The conscious is a strange thing. It does not react when you do something wrong. It reacts when you do something you think is wrong. So if I convince you that chewing gum is wrong, your conscious would then come into play everytime you saw a pack of gum.
In this way, I could control you without directly forbidding you to chew the gum. So I say that let each person make that determination for themselves and thus they will be responsible for not only what they do but also for what their conscious does or does not allow. -

Thanks, mgm... I've created a link to that site which should make it easier to go to.

Please note the last paragraph where the WT spokesman is talking. Nothing has changed. You would still be disassociated (disfellowshipped described with a more innocuous word, i.e. WTS language) if you did not get on your knees and say you were sorry.Edited by - Frenchy on 14 June 2000 12:48:25

Beaches! Yes, a friend of mine went "down there" a few months ago and said there were topless beaches? Is that so, and if it is, how many of you girls would like to accompany me on the next flight?!

I Write Some Poetry Myself
by marion_nett ini've enjoyed frenchy's poems so much, i thought since this forum seems to have hit a lull, i might share one that i wrote several years ago when my 17 year old son left home (and the "truth") - and broke my heart.. he is a very bright and introspective young man, a poet heavily into dylan, lennon, and all those anti-establishment heroes of oddly enough my generation.
minstrel song.
where are you now, o minstrel son -.

Marion, that was great. I love it. The overall theme is carried through very well and the phrases are packed with meaning. There is a feeling there that can be felt holding the words together. I know how you felt because my son left us when he was eighteen. Two years later he returned. He lives with us still, is unmarried but has girlfriends. I love him dearly.

We came here, whether we knew it or not, to lean on someone else. We came to a virtual world to say what we could not in a literal one. We came to reach out and to see if someone would meet us somewhere out there and touch us back.
I feel that this has happened.
