  I read a post by Ang recently that said they dfd you. I know that if you have family still in there that this will be a problem for you and your wife. Im sorry to hear that. So far they havent gotten around to doing this to me but Im sure the day will come when they will.

  I think so too. I think our best shot is at those that are just beginning to study and take the time to surf the net. I think sites like yours can be instrumental in helping those see the real truth of the matter. Hardcore witnesses are afraid to visit sites that openly oppose the Society so there is little that can be done for them.

  There are also a lot of people who for a long time have had lots of doubts. The internet is helpful in this instance as well. The information is out there now. Curiosity alone will make many of them look at it.

  I think that is precisely the case. That is the way that most Witnesses feel when they first begin to see the problems in the organization. Since they are going to all those meetings and being told how happy everyone is and how sinful it is to questionwhat chance do they have?! With support, however, the picture changes.

  I think youre right. A friend of mine who has for some time now been troubled with his perception of the truth and what he now sees as the reality of the matter is moving toward his crisis where he will have to make a choice. Without any prompting from me, he told me that it was becoming more and more difficult for him to continue going to the hall. This guy is a ministerial servant. Those that stay are those that would not leave even if the GB looted the coffers and ran off to some tropical island with four women each. Smile. They would hang around and wait for an explanation and then would go on about their business as usual.

  Hello waiting! How are you?

  I believe that people are talking more. I know I am! I have talked to a lot of people that know how long I was an active JW. From the responses I got from them, I cant imagine them ever taking another magazine.

  This is a big organization, however, and like all large entities, it moves slowly. I think that the internet has been the single, greatest influence on people learning the truth about the truth. The sad thing is that most Witnesses have been robbed of any ability to think outside the box.

  Its still growing, however. Regardless of the exposure its had and all the attacks against it --its still growing.

  Too wierd to be true... but it is... Elders???

  well yesterday i go the visit of two elders of my congregation, my wife told them that i was acting like an apostat as i talked two days before to two mormons, yes i told them that that they were in a cult like the jw's and they couldn't think for themselves like us, boy i got a real sermon from them, my wife told them that i was on anti-depresants and that they made me ack a bit crazy sometimes, well i know one thing, it wont be the last time i will here from them.

  i know 3 years ago i got a talk by the elders but that time it was for buying lotto tickets, again my wife found a ticket in my pocket that i forgot when i put my cholths for washing.

  i got the talk, but no sanctions again.

  Hard to say without more detail. Maybe they like you. Maybe they like your wife! Maybe theyre taking to heart the instructions to learn to differentiate between weakness and wickednessand have decided that you are one weak dude!

  There is also the matter of how you responded to their call on you. Going to a Christmas party and/or getting drunk will not automatically get you dfd nor will buying a lotto ticket nor will admitting to VIEWING sites like this. Now if you told them that you exchanged gifts at the party, kissed all the secretaries under the mistletoe, donned the Santa suit and passed out the presents and saw absolutely nothing wrong with that and fully intended to go to next years party and plan to invite some of the Witnesses to it as well as put an invitation on the information board to that effectyou would probably warrant a JC hearing! (Smile)

  BTW, your wife is a snitch! Does she like not like you or something???

  Personally Im put off by slovenly attire and attitude. I think that when you "DRESS UP" it shows respect for the householder, their home, your message, for God inasmuch as you will speak of him or at least be expected to, and for yourself. I am at odds with a lot of things with the organization but not with this. I dont agree with people going to church in shorts, tee-shirts and jeans. Those things are fine after the services when you are home or visiting if that type of attire is considered acceptable by the community in which we live.

  I think that the concept of "informal worship" is an oxymoron.

  i would also like to add that i have left her personally negative comments in the text because i have nothing to hide about my relationship w/my kids or my family and will have no regrets when the worms come.....nuff said!

  Valis, I applaud your desire to do something if it's constructive and has a positive direction and is for the purpose of helping someone come out of the bondage of the JW society as oppposed to just pissing people off.

  I think that is JT's concern as well as evidenced by his questions. If it's your purpose to get your relatives out then your efforts need to have direction and must be carefully orchestrated to achieve those results. Do you know why we put a set of steps to a porch that's three feet off the ground? Smile. It's too hard to jump up that high for most people. Some of us here did jump, unaided, up onto that porch but for the majority, it's an impossible feat.

  Take your time. Take it one step at a time and don't show them the porch until they are on the top step. It's not so much a case of acrophobia as ignorantphobia...a condition that we ALL, as Witnesses, at one time shared!

  I am very happy that I have gotten a few people on step two already. One or two can see the porch now without trembling with fear. Others are now looking at the step. It can be done. Not all will respond, but you don't know which ones will. Hey, it's like going out in service...don't skip any houses, especially your relatives!.
