Hominy (from an Indian name) is made from dried, hulled corn kernels. The result is a ‘gritty’ substance that is boiled until softened and then usually eaten with butter or like SevenofNine likes ‘em, with syrup or with gravy and sometimes even with cheese. It’s a favorite southern breakfast food and is usually served with the eggs and bacon. Even after it’s boiled and served, it still has a ‘gritty’ texture and ‘dem yankees apparently don’t like dat at all!
