this chart is out of date and i am wondering if anyone can find more contemporary statistics?.

i am wondering if there is some way possible for wbts to be billed for medical expenses caused by the psychological harm inflicted when dubs end up in dr. offices or hospital as a result of spiritual trauma and spiritual warfare?.

seems to me that we could make them take some responsibility.. (i am not providing the link because this is second-hand information).

it is deeply related to stressors. In other words, it can be triggered or nurtured by one's environment. In other words, there are people walking around who, genetically speaking, have schizophrenia and they don't know it. Nobody knows it. Until, they encounter a sufficient stressor in their lives that brings out the symptoms. That is why people are generally not "born with schizophrenia" they develop it over time. Or, they may devlop it over night due to some powerful trauma like war.

That's what I think, too, Shawn. But I found some disagreement with that here on the board. So people wanted more proof.

Please spell out the book you mentioned. Thanks.

Yep. you heard right.

There are some seed and plant exchange websites on the internet and also in some of the gardening magazines. It's all swap...no money involved. I have gotton some really excellent trades and some wonderful plants.

When I started out, I didn't have much to trade. I helped a friend with some yard work and she let me have her seeds from 4 o'clocks and the milkweeds. I collected seeds from trees in a local park. I clipped little snips of jasmine from the mall parking lot. I found various plants in public places and would get a handful of seeds when I could. If I didn't know what the plant was, I would look it up in a wildflower or tree book.

One of the easiest books to use for identification is the North American Field Guide series. You can look it up according to color, or leaf shape, tree shape, fruit or berry, shape or color.

People trade for seeds, cuttings, rooted plants and trade for likewise. One of the best internet forums is gardenweb.

On trades alone I now have several fruit trees that are a good size and lots of heirloom vegetable seeds, as well as flowers for butterflies, and herbs, catnip for my cat...

If I can't find what I want on a trade basis, I will order from a wholesale ccompany. You pay about the same price for 1/4 lb of seeds as you would for a retail package of 50 seeds.

Not only will you have plenty of food that has not been irradiated and processed. If your produce is abundant you can sell or trade to friends and neighbors for cash or barter. Good to have some back up assets, what with the dollar being so rapidly devalued.

a letter has been prepared by anonymous brothers to be sent to bodies of elders around the world.. of course this is a massive undertaking and we are asking for assistance from active and inactive ones around the world who share the sentiments of the letters contents.. your participation in this action indicates your sincere desire to see change within the organization that has become authoritarian in recent years.. we ask that the letter be addressed to "the body of elders" in each respective congregation.. please do not add any further information or commentary.. we are also relying on non-english speaking brothers to translate and distribute this letter.. it will not matter if more than one letter is received by each congregation.

I have a family member who was a nurse. She gave up her profession when she became a JW and went out door-knocking.

I tried so hard to tell her....if you REALLY want to help people...and you really want to give away your time to something charitable...why don't you go and innoculate the babies in third world countries?

I tried so hard to tell her that she had a great capacity to help people in the profession she had chosen.

But she was already brainwashed by then, I guess. I imagine many JWs misconstrue the advice and good intentions of others to mean "more persecution, I must be doing the right thing."

What branch of medicine are you considering?

Harms associated with cultic groups have been addressed through various forms of self-help, conservatorship, habeas corpus proceedings, consumer protection legislation, and litigation. First Amendment concerns loom large in such remedies. This paper reviews three important instances of litigation: Molko v. Holy Spirit Association, George v. International Society for Krishna Consciousness, and Wollersheim v. Church of Scientology. These and other cases indicate that self-proclaimed religious organizations are heading towards a time of greater accountability. Juries tend to be sympathetic toward plaintiffs, though courts seem unwilling to enforce judgments so large they threaten a group's existence.

It's not just the JWs and the problem is bigger than you think!!!

The cult problem, however, is ongoing and ever-growing, and remains a threat to America's young people. One anti-cult organization estimates that there are more than 2,500 cults and other "destructive totalist" organizations now active in the United States, and these groups control approximately six million members. [2]

Combating the cults presents its own problems. Those seeking to hold cults accountable for their actions against individual members inevitably clash with the cults' assertion of their fundamental right to religious liberty. The courts have tackled these competing interests in several recent cases with results that may give hope to critics of cult groups. But the battles are far from over.

Psychiatrist Robert J. Lifton describes eight basic characteristics of brainwashing in his study of Chinese totalitarian control: "Milieu Control, Mystical Manipulation, Demand for Purity, Cult of Confession, Sacred Science, Loading of Language, Doctrine Over Person, and Dispensing of Existence. [9] These elements are accepted by cult experts as being applicable to modern cults, and the Lifton model of brainwashing is currently used by attorneys pursuing cults in formulating statements of fact and educating the court. [10]

The newer programs attack a person's self-image, sense of reality and of existence, making the individual feel personally defective. "Alter the self or perish" is the motto. [13] Once fundamental coping mechanisms are tampered with or stripped away, psychosis can result.
