highlights from a recent letter addressed to our boe:.
-- a married couple is leaving bethel, assigned to serve in our congregation as special pioneers.
-- the society will pay them $600 per month, and in addition cover their health insurance .
Hi Steve2,
So you are all the way down in New Zealand? Wow, I love this site. It's truely sad that the Society is always putting down having a family. I really enjoyed having my family. There was a time that I thought that I wouldn't enjoy having children, but, my son and daughter proved me wrong. I hate those crabby people who don't show any tolerance for children. I do know of some who wish they could have children, but can't due to medical issues. Your right, for those who put that off for Bethel service, have missed out on that priviledge. I remember that comment in Raymond Franz's book.

Actually, it's amazing how some are able to bounce back up into reality after the shock of leaving Bethel, missionary, or some form of full time service. I do know of some resilient ones who have picked-up quite well while leaving that life. Some have even done better than I, and I have an excellent job considering all things. But, I do know that some (not all) who entered Bethel service were losers to begin with. So when they left, they still were the same losers. I know of some that refused the special pioneer allowance, not wanting to commit themselves to the hour requirement. Let's face it, you can also fail in this world even with a University, or College degree. It's a challenge to leave that Bethel life, but it's really a fools paradise to stay in it. I'm happy that when I was offered that life I turned it down for a special pionneer assignment many years ago. Still, some have had some enjoyment in it, and perhaps some good memories. Why would they have stayed so long?
It's never too late to start over in life.
did antone notice that the km insert doesn't display the upcoming district assembly theme?
what do you think it will be?
Sorry, let me fix my typo above "antone". I mean't to type "any one"

it was announced at the meeting last night that next week all should be in attendance at the service meeting as a special important letter will be read.
this is in addition to the letter about the district convention.
any idea what it's about?
The Special Announcement has something to do with revealing the Theme of the Dist A (KM insert doesn't have a theme mentioned).
There will be probably a new track campaign announced for the public talk at the Dist A.
can someone please explain to me what you are supposed to do on boxing day?
i keep hearing different things.
one person told me that i'm supposed to give baked goods to the neighbors, another told me to re-gift and another told me that i'm supposed to give presents to the mailman.
It has many meanings for different people. For me it means to wear your boxers for the whole day, and shout happy cries that you have the day off. For others it means to put on your boxing gloves and enter a ring with those boxer dogs. But, it has no pagan origin so I think it's a safe holiday.
men, do you dye your hair to hide the gray?.
women: do you prefer your men to dye their hair or do you prerfer them to let nature take its course and let the gray grow in?.
Hate to be the only one , or maybe the first one to tell you this.
Real men don't dye their hair. They don't eat kishe as well. They don't wear pink, and they certainly don't like ballet.
my mom at 73 is full time pioneering and complaining that many days a week the young couples never show up.
she describes them as having new cars, big houses, and having to both work to maintain their lifestyles.. she mentioned the above statement from the latest co to the congregation.. oh really......!.
i said to her, well none of these people were allowed to get college educations and they are probably earning 10.00 an hour max which goes nowhere.
Some of the CO's are backed up by wealthy families, and some get by with the Society's provisions. One CO brother told me that they don't have any money worries. Some of the Bethelites have the same mentality, because they have everything provided for. Think about it, laundry, cleaning, car maintenance all provided for. Some have the fear of coming back to the real world if they had to. I know of some that could retire from Bethel, are afraid to do so. What scares them is the cost of appartments, automobiles, food, and all the expenses that come with the 'cost of living'.
Once I heard a comment from a CO's wife made. She said "Another day, another dollar made" when she was out in service. She was refering to what the Society paid her, and husband to go out in the service. I tried to correct her and say that the min wage was more than a Dollar. She disagreed, and said in her case it's still a dollar. They didn't last long in the Circuit work. I admire the sacrifices that such ones make. I also admire the ones that are full time sevice. I don't admire the ones that judge others though. My wife and I have pioneered for many years, and know what it means to start over in life when children arrive. We were judged wrongly when we moved away from a territory that was needy, but not a safe place to raise children. Some just don't get it. That's called ignorance.
