last nite at my parents service meeting an announcement was made regarding the new triple meeting.
they said that no one can go over their allotted time at all during the tms.
if the bell rings you are to stop immediately- not even finishing your sentence.
I believe that the Theocratic started sometime in was announced in 1958. Then the audience applauded and said it was about time.
Why did they say this? It is because now sisters were able to give talks. Now that we have advanced to 2008, we only have a 60 percent participation at our TMS.
For the life of me I still don't understand why we still have two schools though.

Somehow, I always felt that a wedding was out of place in a Kingdom Hall. My daughter made me more aware of that. I did sit on the Service Committee, and did go throught the questions with the prospective bridal couples. Our questions were fair. We made sure that the ones who were going to use the KH would be responsible in their use of it.
My daughter, however chose to have her wedding outdoors with a quartet band. The band was worldly but played some of the Kingdom songs as well as other appropriate music. That band was very cooperative and I certainly appreciated their willingness to conform. They did a fine job. There was a brother that gave the talk, and I got to give her away. That was sure painful.
A kingdom Hall, no matter what the society thinks about it, just doesn't do a marriage justice. The marriage day needs to be upbeat, happy, joyful, not institutional.
But, why get married in the KH? Do yourself a favour and get married in the Carribean, or maybe outdoors, or at some nostalgic place, or someplace nice. Not at a KH.

the aux pioneers are changing to 35 as well, but when is this all to start.

I remember, it must me around 10 years ago, when the hours were reduced to where they are now. I was the secretary then and the CO was getting hard on the Reg pioneers that didn't make the 1000 hrs per year. He just about told the Service Committee to get ready to delete the regular pioneers. We had 14 at the time, and only one made their time ( this was an older sister who had no obligations)
Then as if by some big surprise, a new K.M. came forward with the reduction in hours.
The pioneers are still having problems with the current hr requirement. I did hear that in the Ukraine that the Reg pioneers requirements are 60 hrs per month, though. This was the requirement over 15 years. Maybe they are doing this because of this.
Anyways, some regular pioneers know that this coming, but are unsure of when they will announce it.

Yipes..this is a very large Post. I'm not sure about this, but I think that the Pioneer hour requirement is changing. That's my best guess.

Being a MS may also present a challenge. For instance working on the Accounts in a large KH when you are dealing with 4 or more congregations can become challenging. Add the speaking assignments to this as well. This is not a cosy job. Sometimes certain Elder responsibilities are so easy in comparaison to MS tasks. I've seen MS's burn out, and that's because they couldn't say no to other duties piled on them. I do understand that an Elder may make a choice to become a MS, but in my eyes the difference in that the MS doesn't involved himself in meetings. In some cases you could be jumping from the pot into the frying pan.

It really depends on the reason that he stepped down.
If it was because of doing something unscriptural, then he may have to work towards being a MS again.
I have been approach several times to become an elder again, since stepping down due to health reasons in the past. I have declined the offer. It's different when you know what you can expect when you enter that service. I'm not against helping in the congregation, but, lately I'm tied down with the same health issues, and work situation that makes the eldership duties hard to manage.
The recent Org book mentions that Elders can step down for personal reasons,and mentions that he should be respected for this decision. The book mentions Retired Elders. These are not Ministerial Servants since they also work very hard, and I find that they work harder than some Elders do.
