Do you feel vindicated by the exposure of the WT Society in Australia? It seems like a feeding frenzy on here! I love it. You?
by Wasanelder Once inare you pleased with the exposure of the society in australia?
do you feel personally vindicated by it?
do you think it gives you credibility with others now that all the things you said were going on, actually are documented?

You have to have a slight understanding of abusive relationships to understand why it isn't enough to say 'the victim could have reported it herself, or 'her mother could have reported it'
these girls were subject to sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental and emotional abuse, of course it stands to reason that the wife was probably abused emotionally and physically also. People in this situation are fearful, vulnerable, damaged and often dependent on the abuser, that's why so many battered wives inexplicably stay for so long.
That's why it is beholden upon anyone who has first hand knowledge of the abuse to get help from the authorities so that these women could be removed from this situation and to prevent similar abuse to any other innocent children, to not report it is unforgivable. It beggars belief.
the documents on the commission website include guidance to elders about reporting, they only approve reporting if it is mandatory? Why? Why shouldn't an elder be encouraged to report such a heinous criminal offense? They make statements like 'we can claim ecclesiastical privilege' showing their concern is not to report if at all possible. They've got it horribly wrong, this will bring much more 'reproach' on jws than handing criminals over for proper punishment ever would have done.
as for how I feel, I feel i no longer have to doubt that they might just have 'the truth', this organization definitely does not have Gods spirit or backing and he might not be too happy with them right now!

It just is so bizarre to me that none of them, as an individual with their own sensibilities and conscience, decided to report this to the authorities. It's clear that the daughters and quite possibly the mother were abused and vulnerable and therefore not strong enough mentally/emotionally at the time to do so themselves, but it is an absolute no brainer that if you hear first hand about something like this it is a CRIME and should be investigated by the AUTHORITIES so that this evil man could not do it to anyone else.
The only explanation as to why none of them did (and not one of 1006 cases were reported either) is that they were members of a high control institution which discouraged reporting to the secular authorities, whether in writing or not, and this is a fact this organization will not be able to escape from.
BTW The scripture in Lev 5:1 about reporting another's sins is applicable to a court of law, the only court of the land in that context, not just a 'spiritual' court. So if they knew about such a crime, they were under obligation to report it to the legal authority of the land even by their own scriptural reasoning.

JW Reaction to Royal Commission Reports
by maksutov inhas anybody confronted any jws with the royal commission reports on the news yet?
i showed my 8-year old daughter a newspaper headline about it, and when she told my jw wife that the jws in australia were in trouble for not reporting over 1,000 child abusers to police, her response was "oh, really?
well, i don't know what the rules are over there.

I keep trying to speak to my husband about it and he is freaking out, says he doesn't want to hear it, that he is very happy with the society's response to child abuse as outlined in the July broadcasting where AMIII said he was 'proud' of their record on this issue (puke).
ive tried a few times saying 'it's on cnn now, it's on bbc, this is huge, you have to see this' but he shouts me down and said he didn't want to listen and might have to get 'help' from the elders to keep me quiet about it. Aaaaaarrrgggh it's so annoying!!!!! I just about managed to say 'they knew about over 1000 abusers and didn't report 1'. Let's hope he thinks on that.

What a question....
proverbs 21:13 Whoever stops up his ear to the cry of the lowly one Will himself call and not be answered.
You have to consider, if there is a Jehovah, he can't be very happy with this lot who claim to be representing him!

Australia Evidence List is public and contains Elders Book
by Skidmarks inthere is so much information on the website of the hearing.
you can find the full transcripts of each day there as pdf.. but also the evidence list is very interresting.
it contains many confidential letters from congregations but also from the hq to branch offices.. the full list can be seen here: http://www.childabuseroyalcommission.gov.au/exhibits/636f01a5-50db-4b59-a35e-a24ae07fb0ad/case-study-29,-july-2015,-sydney.

Skid marks, I had the same thoughts.
its quite amazing to see the religion through the eyes of these well educated investigators.
I was indoctrinated all these years into thinking we don't make man made rules like the Pharisees and we don't have titles or a hierarchy because everyone is equal, elders are there to serve. Seeing the reality there in black and white that it's 'a rule bound organization obsessed with sinning and with a highly centralized hierarchical structure'- its just so obvious now, I'm fuming with myself for not seeing it sooner!

Wow, there are so many confidential letters on there from NY to Australia etc, instructions to service committees, flowcharts on handling a use accusations.
ive just read a few and one thing is very clear, their emphasis is on maintaining confidentiality and avoiding reporting to authorities if at all possible, only if reporting is mandatory do they then instruct elders to make a report to the authorities. It is all about what they have to do by law and can avoid if at all possible using ecclesiastical privilege etc, nothing about how the victim may need support In taking a matter like that to the authorities.
Also, several times it mentions that elders are the ones to establish if there is any truth in the accusation. Hopefully the commission will establish that they're woefully inadequate to make that judgement.
the GB must be horrified that all these docs are now in the public domain.

Wow great report, hope as many JWs see it as possible! The reporters need emphasise though that this is Australia only, how many other unreported pedophile cases are lurking in Bethels all over the world.
i am totally shocked, I didn't think it was this bad.
its finished me off in this religion, I feel set free, no need to look back and wonder if gods spirit might be with these people, it's clearly not.

Thank you and well done.
shame these can't play automatically straight after someone watches the July JW broadcasting, show the difference between their public condemnation of child abuse and the reality of how they have completely mishandled it when it's happened in their congregations, adding to the suffering of innocent victims.
