Only a few days ago I was entirely lost and without hope the rug was pulled out from under me
by elderess inonly a few days ago i was walking around the house in a mindless wander thinking if i needed to seek professional help.
then i got the courage to seek the comfort of complete strangers on the internet and found a world of support here on this website.
thank you simon and whoever else has made this website possible.

I agree stuckinarut, these guys are sacrificing higher education, putting their own personal goals on hold for the org., keeping chaste at the hardest time in history to do so, rejecting 'worldly' friends or potential girlfriends, but all that isn't enough, you can't be fashionable either.... Wow just unbelievable !
I so hope this wakes a few up and they all grow beards and go off to university in their skinny jeans!

I take my toddler to an indoor play center now on saturday mornings where she can make friends, bounce on trampolines, go down slides and jump in ball pools! No more being strapped in a pram pushed from door door and bribed to keep still and quiet! -

All JWs need to watch this great documentary...it may give them pause for thought.
by deanxxx ini know how hard it is to awaken people still inside the cult bubble.
there are many reasons for this, chief among them the unwillingness to read or watch anything critical of their religion.
on the other hand, jws love few things more than hearing bad stuff about other faith groups.

I watched Spotlight last weekend and it's just excellent, it's based in the newsroom on the reporters, it just gives you a sense of the enormity of what went on in the Catholic Church and the scale of the cover up, how high up it went etc. just shocking. -

Just a simple question.
by Sabin indo you think it is easier for an elder to wake up to the wtbts because of the position he is in which gives him access to info that the rank & file would not be privy to, or do you think it would be harder for him to wake up because of all the prestige/power/admiration he receives as a result of being an elder, or does it come down to something else entirely?.

I think it could work both ways, more chance to see what's really going on behind the curtain, but more chance of being so caught up in the action that they either enjoy the position of authority or are too busy to question.
Robo bobo, tell us more about bethel!?!?!?!

If your Absence doesn't affect them, then your Presence never mattered!
by stuckinarut2 inwhat a powerful quote!.
"if your absence doesn't affect them, then your presence never mattered.".
how true!

So true. It does hurt though, because we were told this was the most loving organisation on earth, that this was our real family, that we were all there to support eachother etc etc. so not true. The love is conditional on you being a happy and productive, silent and obedient cog in a very large machine. My teenage kids found this the hardest thing about leaving, they knew something wasn't right yes, logic told them that, but to see how quickly the 'brothers' dropped them and moved on without a second thought, how little effort was made to reach out to them, of course it hurts. But it just tells us all it was never what we were told it was.
My non jw family have always stuck by us, even when we made decisions they didn't understand or refused to celebrate their most treasured events, that's real love. Now I'm glad we can repay them by being there for them instead keeping them at arms length whilst serving a manmade organisation.

A fresh start
by FormerlySandL inafter the worst introduction i could ever make on the forum i would like to reintroduce myself and make a fresh start on the forum and hopefully over time i will be able to redeem myself.
i have changed my user name which was over dramatic and ridiculous in the cold light of day but for transparency and to show i am not trying to hide anything i have adapted the original name and it now has a more positive feel.
after reading a lot of posts on this forum i am feeling more optimistic about my future.

Now, it iwould be very nice to hear what woke you up? What are your doubts, frustrations, what don't you agree with anymore? What is it that has the elders so exasperated with you.

We all screw up sometimes, you held your hands up, said sorry and I think you should be given the benefit of the doubt. I hope you take the advice about fading and taking time to build a new life, find a new job, new home, new friends and support network. Don't throw away your old shoes before you get a new pair. But dont linger too long either because it's not easy being in limbo and your aim is to leave and live a happy and successful life. Good luck!
