i came here expecting to find a range of jw's and check out their beliefs and thinking.

however, what i find is largely disaffected or ex jw's and atheists etc.

with hindsight i am not that surprised either!

Interesting points.

I was never a JW or brought up one. Regardless of what we are taught or indoctrinated with we have to make our own decisions-even at the age of six. For sure, by the age of sixteen I was making decisions with little influence from my parents or any religious upbringing.

On the subject of Islam I have read parts of the Qu'ran. The verses where they say Jesus was only a prophet doesn't make any sense. How can Jesus say He was God's Son and that equate with The Bible? At least one of them is wrong (or both). Anyhow, they have a different Messiah.

Same deal with Rastarfarianism too-they have their own Messiah.

The whole key to the thing is Jesus-that is what the Bible teaches, not Allah, not Jehovah, not Haile Selassie or anyone else.

Yeah they have zero understanding on what Paul writes about Freedom In Christ.

On the subject of this "Did you ever try hot steamy, totally disgusting I can't believe we did that, lets do it again sex? That brings lasting happiness"-well of course.

However, I don't think it brings lasting happiness, ask any porn star.

I asked Jesus to be my saviour at the age of 6 and the Lord honored that far more than I did ;)

For 20 years I was happy to try out all of the pleasures of this world that I ran into, save they never brought me any lasting happiness, just emptiness, pain and torment.

God never gave up on me and kept talking to me. I finally decided I would see what He had to say. He touched me in a way I can only describe that I was high for days.

Have a read of Acts 2 if you need to understand what I am talking about.

So for the last few years I have been walking with God. Always there are ups and downs but I have the peace of knowing Him which is awesome. Same deal as here

Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

The only regret is that I pushed Him away for so long but He is using that for good already.

Romans 8:28
[ More Than Conquerors ] And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
