As usual, the Society likes to make you think that reading the Watchtower and Awake will not only solve your problems, it will solve everyone else's. While I'm glad the lady's son is okay, once again we have the Society making much ado about nothing. Do they think that stuff they print in the mags is the only stuff that will help people? (Of course they do) But it's really kind of pitiful that they have to resort to articles like this in order to make people believe that you learn everything you need to know in life from their magazines.

just pray that your path will cross with a jw who's kept up to date on their awake!s - they will diagnose complex conditions that doctors were unable to, in nothing flat!.

has anyone noticed lately the emphasis on elders..
by surferdude inin particular it seems like every wt for the past year or so has a section or a paragraph pumping up the elders.
or talking about them being "gifts in men"?
or like the part on the service meeting this week, interviewing an elder and making him seem better or different from the rest of the cong.

Yes, I have seen these pioneer "only" dinners or "get-togethers". I was even part of a pioneer "weekend" once back in the late '80's. I've also seen the "elder only" dinners. All it did was make the publishers upset because you only got to go to these functions if you were of the elite. Whenever the Society would say how servants and elders are only there to serve and not have a lofty position, it always made me laugh, because the opposite was true. These were positions of authority that you had to work your way up to, just like any other corporation.
Being made a pioneer or servant was a "promotion", and many of these ones thrived on the fact that they had authority or that they were looked up to. Heaven forbid they ever become just a lowly publisher ever again. The Watchtower Society is truly a corporation in every sense of the word. This is one corporation you WANT to get fired from...........

Do NOT PRAY for the Astronauts families!!!!!!!!!!
by JT inthat is right-- do not pray for thier families!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they had no business being up in the heavens anyway, the earth is what jehovah created for mankind,

Good to see you posting again JT. As always, you make very good points. And yes, sad to say, many JW will not have one ounce of fellow feeling for the astronauts and their families. They only feel it was doomed to happen to them because of mankinds "worldly pursuits".
I remember back on 9/11, both my wife and I were extremely saddened, like the rest of the nation, at the tremendous grief that thousands of families had to deal with. We were still in the org at the time. My wife cried for many days afterwards, but when she shared her feelings of sadness with family and others, they almost criticized her for feeling compassion because they were just "worldly" people and this type of stuff was to be expected in "the time of the end". This was just one of many factors that influenced our decision to leave. They will never have compassion or feeling for anyone unless they are JW, even though they say they do. Once again it shows the hypocrisy that is so rampant in the Society.

BIG SURPRISE at upcoming International Conventions
by Smiles inhas anyone else been told about this...... word out of hq bethel has it that the upcoming special international conventions will contain some kind of major information or releases.. we know the gb has been rather quiet the last couple years after their 'reorganizing'.
perhaps because they are facing the sex abuse scandal..... but also likely they have been working on some fancy surprises for the upcoming special international conventions, to excite their masses......... and also try to detract them from the scandals.
it would be good timing of their part.. this should be interesting......... .

What is sad is that the JWs would swallow that without even blinking.
Hell, it sounded good to me. I know if I was still a dub, I would've bought into what minimus said if it was coming from the FDS. Just goes to show that the FDS can say whatever it wants, and the R&F will believe it without question...because after all, God talks only to them. -

1. The Watchtower could be studied at the "Book Study" instead of after the Public Talk
2. After the Public Talk, have a meeting that combines the TMS and SM. We do this type of thing now during the visit of the CO. It works when he is in town. The information in the Isaiah Book or any new publications could very easily be included in this meeting.
3. To keep the "three times a week format," simply call the "meeting for service" on Saturday or whenever the third congregation "meeting" each week (let's face it, it IS a meeting!)
This would free up an entire night for family activities or whatever.
Does this make sense ???
I have a better idea......let's just not have any meetings or service at all. That makes the most sense to me......

Latest insider info about WT plans
by BATHORY inim not sure if is prudent to post this here.
i have a contact ( relative ) that is very close to a writing department researcher.. he claims that there was a private extraordinary meeting that was had about 6 months ago.
9 of the gb members were present and a handfull of elitists that apparently no-one knows or would recognise.

Elsewhere stated:
I have noticed that when they make a change, they do not go back and "un-disfellowship" the people they persecuted through shunning for disagreeing with them. This tells me that they are not really interested in truth and righteousness... they are only interested in power.
Couldn't agree more! If you disagreed on something in the past and were df'd for it, and later the FDS reversed their thinking....they just tell you that you weren't obedient to the FDS at the time and so it didn't matter whether you were right or wrong in your thinking. They tell you that you deserved to be df'd because you disagreed with the FDS. What humble and caring people.....

New KM Tries To Make Old & Young Feel Guilt...

Minimus.....this is true. Both my wife and I feel very strongly that the Society is all about guilt. As long as you are in the borg, you will always feel guilty. Guilty for not studying enough, or praying enough, or going out in service enough, etc....
The Society continues to try to manipulate weak minded people.
While this is true because there are weak minded people in the borg, I also feel that there are also ones who aren't. I never felt I was weak minded, but yet I always had guilt. I feel it's just part of what the Society does to try and keep people from leaving and to keep them in line. When you've grown up in it, you don't know anything else and you feel you must obey the Society. And if they tell you to do something, then you should be doing it. And if you aren't, then guilt sets in. Because I'm not weak minded, I was able to finally see through the smoke and become guilt free. Unfortunately, there are many who are weak minded and will forever be blinded.

Gopher is absolutely right....what good things do they do for others?? If they think peddling a couple of magazines every Saturday morning is "doing good", they're sadly mistaken. It's always amazed me how they put down any type of community service that helps others because in their eyes it's pointless, because after all, only god's kingdom will solve all problems.
Is it really necessary for both husband and wife to be secularly employed?
Once again, they have laid the guilt trip on the R&F. Unless the WTBTS is going to start sending out monthly checks to everyone, what business do they have even questioning whether or not it is necessary for both spouses to work? The WTBTS isn't paying for bills, or putting money away for retirement for me, so what concern is it of theirs if we both work? This just kills me! The guilt they lay upon everyone is ridiculous. For years my wife has felt guilty for working because the Society indoctrinates the Witnesses that it isn't right for both spouses to work. One should work and the other pioneer. Since we've left the borg, she's finally beginning to accept the fact that a woman can have a career. The Society has always made the women feel bad if they work outside the home and don't pioneer. (Especially if the husband has a lucrative career already) I feel sorry for those still in!!
