`at the height of fame, jackson was a devout jehovah's witness, knocking on strangers` doors with his mum selling copies of watchtower(jacko wearing an unconvincing moustache and beard disguise).. at the start of the thriller video there is a disclaimer`renouncing satanism' that jacko was orced to put there because of his faith..
What is the Guardian Guide?

i just noticed someone on another post call jw's from another location "friends" my jw friend would always bring that up when we would talk about traveling.
if i wanted to go somewhere she would say i have some friends there, example rio, oh i have friends there, switzerland, oh i have friends there.
come on......friends?
When I was new, I would sit at the assemblies and feel wonderful because the whole stadium was filled with people who believed the same way I did.
And I remember a lot of witnesses saying that no matter where we went in the whole world, we would be among friends.
Now I know better of course.

my son was about 5 years old when we stopped going to the meetings.
the other day i asked him what he remembers about them (his now 14 years old).
he remembered the puzzles i bought him to play with during the meetings.. he remembered that i packed a sandwich and some juice for him to eat in case he got hungry.. when he got board i use to take him outside for a walk around the kh garden.
I got in as a teenager. I stopped going when my little girl was about 2 and the elders kept giving talks about beating them for not sitting still. I was not about to. The one time I gave her a little love pat (as my mom used to call them) I was ashamed the next day when I realized she had been cutting a tooth, so not her usual sunny self.
I remember one baby got dropped off the changing table onto a concrete floor and one died of sunburn at an assembly.
The Society definitely is NOT good for children. Parents don't have time for kids and service too.

and watching "dirty harry" .

ever see those two british women on tv that go into some slob's home that looks like something out of a stephen king novel?
take their quiz to see if you're a neat-freak, or a sloth-in-waiting: http://www.bbcamerica.com/content/100/quiz.jsp.
here's mine:.
It is also lame because I answered the questions honestly and it said I am gleaming. Not hardly.
My house is a mess.

The quiz is lame because I don't use sponges, they are germ collectors
AND the worst kind of bug I see in my old house are SPIDERS and they don't even MENTION them.

when you were a witness, there must've been things that you really wanted to but couldn't because you were not able to.
give us some examples, please..
Go to church in jeans! If a church won't allow jeans I won't go because I don't think my clothes impress Jesus and I don't worry about impressing anyone else. And if I can't feel free to invite ANYONE no matter what they look like or how they dress, then I don't want to go myself.
I can pick my own church and if the Pastor says something that disagrees with the Bible, I can either call him on it (I have done it!!!!) or leave for a different church (I have done it!) or both and I have definitely done that. Without having to worry about losing real friends.
Read apostate literature! Read the Bible without the "help" of the WT Society looking over my shoulder.
Make friends with REAL people, even though they are hard to find, I can at least LOOK for them now.

apologies in advance for yet another post about trevorgate.
but, it might help to see how some folks.
think when they are scamming you.
I still can't figure out how Nathan Knor (sp) figured it out.
I am glad he did, but wonder how.

i have been hear for about a week now, and have not been is such a strange mental place since i was a witness.
it has been good, the programming still kicks in however, but i'm getting less and less afraid to reason with it.
i got my coc book yesterday.... i sat looking at it and thinking of all the years i avoided it, mischaracterized and marginalized it, w/out having any specific knowledge of what was actually in it.
I am fairly new too, but I've been out of the untruth for 21 years. I left because they were so hateful when I was too sick to go out in service. I have never wanted to go back.
My sister got out before I did and then went back in after I got out. Made me sick. She had loaned me C of C and another book that really helped. Wish I could remember what It was.
She asked me how I felt about her going back in and I told her that it reminded me of the Scripture in the Bible about the dog who returns to his vomit. Hope that isn't too graffic, but that's how mad I was and sickened.
I can't imagine going back to fake friends, controlled life, lies about who God and Jesus really are and no free time.
And yes, after a few years and some false starts, I am definitely a Christian and I believe in the Bible, just not THEIR Bible. It is full of changes and false facts.
To all who are newly out, hang in there.
