Jehovah's Witness children and creativity...
by Tuesday inhey there folks,.
i remember some time ago there was a wonderfully written website which dealt with jehovah's witness children specific type of suppression causing a higher number of very creative children than other religious forms of suppression.
i was wondering if anyone remembered what this link was?.

The perfect complementary thread to this one is Mr. Falcon's thread on "going Galt". There's a time for letting creativity show and a time to keep it hidden; not denied, but not so out there that a person feels forced/midlead into using what they know/do against their better judgement.

Mr. Falcon is going GALT!
by Mr. Falcon inraypublisher started this thread: http://www1.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/207626/1/best-way-to-step-down-from-being-a-servant.
it got me thinking, for some wacky reason, of perhaps how i could go about getting relieved of my "privileges".
in the ridicously long-winded novel atlas shrugged by ayn rand, there is a character named john galt.

Terry, honey, the topic of this thread is "going Galt", or, as it is known elsewhere, "strategic incompetence". Now, it's really nice of you to offer your literary expertise, but what the man wanted was a way out of MS responsibilities. Whether or not he comprehends the text in the same way you (or anyone else) does is irrelevant. He got the info he was seeking.

CoCo, you're right. That's what Jesus was trying to tell the apostles when he said if they only had faith the size of a mustard grain they could tell a mountain to move from here to there and it would happen.

It's called Strategic Incompetence in other circles. Google it. Lots of interesting info, including military uses of this tactic.

what was the worst meeting you ever attended ?
by man in black inhere's mine :.
back in the early 90's we went to the sunday talk and wt study.. lo and behold, a friend from the 70's who was df'ed ( he had just been reinstated) was there along with his parents.
i had no idea that they would have been there.. one of my kids was getting sick, so my wife and i were up-down the entire meeting walking him around.

Hmmmmm, the worst meeting....
Maybe it was the one where there were only 27 people (including children) in the KH, all the elders were on vacation, the speaker didn't show up, and an MS brought out a cassette player, set it on a stool on the platform so that those of us who had dragged ourselves (and our children) out in the SoCal heat into a KH where they refused to turn on the AC, could sit for an hour listening to this mechanical representative of Jehovah.
Or maybe it was the one where my then-husband was announced as DF'd at the end of the Service Meeting and, right after the closing prayer, the family of the one of the elders on his committee surrounded me and kept pressuring me to let my teen aged son come to work for them because, as they put it, he was now the head of the house. When I objected that working for them would mean he would no longer be able to auxilliary pioneer they said the money was more important.
Or maybe it was another meeting that same summer when, due to to the extreme heat in the KH, my youngest was uncharacteristically fussy and I decided to leave the meeting to take her home where she could be more comfortable. It was only after I was at my car and ready to drive away that the elders came out and asked if there was anything they could do to help me stay for the rest of the meeting.
It could have been after my auto accident (hit and run that totalled my car) when we were walking to the KH (in the heat) and the PO told me that he and his wife (no kids, three cars for two people) decided to take the freeway to the meetings so they wouldn't see us walking.
Keep your eyes on the prize...

I've been outed...
by brotherdan inso this weekend my wife had a major grand mal seizure for the first time in her life.
she was rushed to the er.
a few hours later while i was at her side she had another major one.. it was the scariest moment in my life.

So Dan's JW wife tells her JW father (who tells the JW elders) that it's Dan's apostate self that caused her seizures and now she knows it was her own meds?
Would Dan be able to counter with a JW claim of "slander" and get the elders to drop the whole thing?

Why would God let me go through this when I was fighting for him? Either he doesn't care, or he's just not there.
He's there. All he wants you to do is "stand firm". All that you need to do is keep being obedient to the will of God, not that of the WT or any of it's members *including your wife*. You don't need to do any fighting, for God or for yourself. This is the time to "stand still and see the salvation of Jehovah", to borrow a quote.
DO NOT MOVE OUT, not even temporarily!!! Your wife is ill and thus not in a position to make rational decisions or requests. Your son needs you, do not abandon him at this time. Do not let anyone run your life, especially right now. STAY PUT. There are legal considerations here; if you leave you are setting yourself up for a downhill slide. STAY PUT. You will not be adding stress to your wife by continuing to live at home. Don't let others stress you into making rash decisions.
It's going to be tough for a long time, this event marks the start. Hang tough in public, cry your heart out (and pray!) in private. There are a lot of prayers and mental support for you here on the board, even from people who don't normally post. We're out here hurting with you and for you.
Don't give up. Don't turn tail and run. This is a temporary situation. It will come to an end. Be there when it does. No matter how things turn out, you won't be tormented by as many issues if you battle back instead of giving in.
Much love from "just another poster",

Cary Verse loses outpatient status, back in sexually violent predator program
By Malaika Fraley
Posted: 02/25/2011 07:19:51 PM PST Updated: 02/25/2011 07:19:53 PM PST
Contra Costa TimesMARTINEZ -- A local sex offender was booted from an outpatient program Friday, clearing the way for attorneys to argue next month whether he should be recommitted indefinitely to a state hospital for sexually violent predators.
Contra Costa Judge John Kennedy said that Cary Verse, 40, "put himself at significant risk of relapsing" when he violated terms of a conditional release program by befriending a 24-year-old man in his group therapy. The man, referred to in court as John Doe, disclosed the friendship to his therapist in recent weeks, which led to an investigation.
"I just violated the terms of the program, I don't have a good reason," Verse testified before the judge's ruling. "It seemed like a good idea at the time."
Verse went to prison and later Atascadero State Hospital for sexual assaults on teen boys and a young man from 1988 to 1992. In 2004, Verse was one of the first people in the state to be released from Atascadero hospital after completing a state program for sexually violent predators. It took a year for officials to eventually find him housing in Bay Point because of protests.
Kennedy noted Friday that Verse has committed no crimes since his release and has a good reputation in the community, where he is active in a local church. However, earlier this month, he was sent to Coalinga State Hospital for the second time in five years for violating terms of his conditional release program operated by Liberty Healthcare.
His outpatient status was previously revoked in 2006 after he was caught driving with a friend's minor son."One would have thought that would have led him to avoid any further relapses," Kennedy said.
Despite knowing rules that participants in group therapy cannot mingle, Verse testified that he became friends with Doe last May or June as they rode the same BART line after their weekly sessions. Eventually, the two men started talking in the phone.
Last fall, Verse twice went to Doe's house, to give him and then take back an Xbox video game console. Verse said he gave the gift because he empathized with Doe that he had no entertainment while on house arrest, but later took it back because Verse had lost his job and needed money from a refund.
Both times Verse, who is monitored by GPS, falsely wrote on his daily transportation log that he was looking at bicycle parts when he went to Doe's.
Verse said he and Doe mutually agreed to end their friendship in December so as not to risk program revocation. He never had sexual feelings or intentions for Doe, Verse said.
Deputy district attorney David Brown argued Friday that Verse knowingly violated the rules and covered up his actions, demonstrating he is not fit for the program. Brown said Verse was "potentially grooming" Doe and called Verse's attentions "unwarranted." Verse's attorney Laurie Mont said that Verse is "very willing to work hard to regain the trust of Liberty."
The attorneys return to court March 25 to argue Brown's petition to have Verse recommitted indefinitely.
