I did it !!!!
by snare&racket in7 years ago i started on a path i had long ago given up on as impossible.
i met with my elders and told them i could not justify carrying on as a jw.
i went and got my high school qualifications and my higher education diploma (a levels with distinction) in just 12 months.

I'm not trying to brag, but being an EXJW is awesome!!! Status Update-
by Coffee House Girl inhello jwn!
i don't get to check in here or comment as often as i would like because i have been working so hard at school...but i just have to share my news in hopes that newbees can see that taking the leap to enroll in higher education is worth it-.
i am graduating this spring with a bachelor degree in art history, minor anthropology...many people (including nonjw's have given me flack for choosing a "dead end" career path) but since leaving the watchtower organization's group-think mentality and "leaning on my own understanding" instead... i decided to say fuck everyone else's opinion...i am going to pursue my passion to work in a museum as a curator or archivist-.

Make You Feel Good Story from Old Readers Digest "Did God Ride the Brooklyn Subway that Afternoon?"
by RottenRiley in" he said, "my name is bela paskin.
as they got off of the train, marcel went over to a phone and called the number on the dog-eared piece of paper.
marcel asked if he was speaking to maria paskin and she said that he was.

I too have had too many supernormal events that make me puzzle over the good that comes to us sometimes. How to explain this isn't for me...
The best I can come up with is that there are many more potential opportunities for "miracles" but the people involved don't follow through.
In this account, Sternberger took the time to listen, first to Marya's (the wife) story, a few weeks before his encounter with Bela (the husband). He felt compelled to get Marya's contact information, thus was prepared when he, once again, listened, this time to Bela. Sternberger not only listened but was willing to follow through, to make the effort to reunite this couple. He put forth effort and used some of his material assets (to pay taxi fare) to send Bela to Marya. What if he hadn't been open enough to strike up a conversation with a fellow Hungarian? What if he hadn't bothered to mentally compare the two stories and act upon his conclusions? This is what I mean by following through; it can make the difference between "serendipity" and missed opportunities.
I wouldn't call it "supernormal" or "a miracle" as much as I would say these things happen because someone actually loves his/her neighbor as he/she loves him/herself. Do unto others...

I think my D.O. Is a closet apostate. References Stanford Prison Study and hints he sometimes disagrees with the Branch
by kneehighmiah ini find it odd that the district overseer today made.
1. zero yes 0 references to the fds in any of his talks.. 2.he also told elders that the brothers worship god and not them.so therefore the elders have no authority to order the friends around.. 3. he also talked about the stanford prison study and said that people who receive authority over others often abuse it.
4. he mentioned that when he disagrees with the branch (aka the fds) he's learned to just do what they say.

I have always promoted the idea of a secret handshake.
Human handshakes don't work unless the people are in close proximity, IRL.
Asking if someone is "a friend of Simon" can be done online or in person, and in cases of uncertainty can be explained away as "I thought someone said you had a friend named Simon" or some such.

"Haters of God and his people are to be hated, but this does not mean that we will take any opportunity of bringing physical hurt to them in a spirit of malice or spite...
Does that mean it's OK to hurt physically hurt people as long as it's not in a spirit of malice or spite?
