  common objections to celebrating Christmas

  i wanted to post this research i did that helped convince my husband a few years back that it was o.k.

  to celebrate christmas, despite the objections he was taught by the watchtower.

  hopefully this will help others out there ease their conscience about this particular day.

  Thank you for your comments. These were very insightful. I have been away for 2 years. I have yet to actually buy a tree and go all out but I did do a little holiday decorating. I still battle whether it is ok or not. Part of me wants to pack it all up but I havent done that. Part of me wants to share this with my daughter since it is not something I did but I'm having a hard time justifying it scriptually. SO, again thank you. These scriptures and thoughts give me some great information to ponder.

  Questions about the rules of marriage

  i have a couple of questions for you.

  1. can a witness (in good standing) remarry if his or her spouse (also in good standing) dies ?

  2. can a witness who is married to a non-witness, divorce and re-marry, if he/she for example is an abusive alcoholic?

  I can answer this as I have personally gone through a similar scenario.

  I finally divorced my verbally abusive non-witness husband about a year ago. I followed all the rules and procedures for around 6 years. I left him twice but tried to work on it per all the WTS articles. Then one day I thought-screw it!. I don't like this man and I am not going to expose myself or my daughter to his toxicity any longer. I had been inactive for a few months by this time and when I finally went to the brothers it was about 10 months or so since I had been to meetings. I met with the brothers to share with them what had happened between me and my ex. They were familiar with the history of his abuse. At that time, I was told that I would not be able to remarry until he committed fornication. In my mind I thought (actually I think I even verbally told them) that is never going to happen. One, the man is completely inept emotionally and second, I am pretty sure he is gay. However due to his whole pile of other issues he will never deal with that. I got some acknowledging head nods but was then promptly told I need to not wear such revealing/tight clothes as I am a single sister now and don't want to solicit unwanted attention. I didn't realize that Ann Taylor designed such bawdy fashions. Watch out ladies!!

  The Truth From the Bible About the 144,000

  i hope this wont take me too long, as being concise isnt my biggest talent.

  a recent thread on the 144,000 made me put a couple of things together about the governing body.

  these are the ones that claim to have authority from jehovah, to tell the over 6,00,000 that although we arent masters over anyones faith, these 150 items are absolutely prohibited for you to do.

  Ok, so what is the bible saying? What is mankind's hope? Why are we here? Who's right? What about the innocent children brought into a world of abuse and terror? Is that the life they should really expect to live? Is that really what is intended? What about the poor souls who grow up or live in lands of war, poverty, economic depression? Is that all they get? What about the all the sicko's regardless of religion who get away with a variety of unthinkable crimes of all types? Where is the justice? Hell, then there is global warming!

  I am just genuinely curious. There has been much intelligent logic in this string, what is the logic for the above? I am not discounting the good in the world. There is still much of that everyday. BUT I also cant ignore the rest.
