Pure faith is real and error should it exist is easily corrected if one is faithfulDoes it matter what the subject of one's faith is? If I have faith that Islam is the true religion, will I be "easily corrected" if I remain faithful?
a question for the masses.. is pure faith real, or just a tool the human psyche uses to justify life patterns or actions?
i'm having a hard time understanding how someone could have a secure belief system based 100 % on faith.
let me explain.

it was satan that was cursed, not the snake!
if it was satan then that the "curse" of genesis 3:14 applied to rather than the serpent, then how is it that satan has had to live his life since that day as if having to go upon his belly and eat dust?
the answer is arrived at by first considering the lowly state of this somewhat pitiful creature called the "serpent".
In my opinion evolutionist's are nothing but DREAMERS! Those poor people haven't gotten to first base in life.
Actually, they've gotten to all four bases (adenine, cytosine, guanine and thymine). If there was any doubt about the common ancestry of all life on earth before the discovery of DNA, there's none now.

does anyone have or know of a "full and complete list of misquotations of the watchtower" if not would anyone like to help compile this list.
i'm sure that we could find someone who would host an article or paper on this subject.
i was thinking of a list or paper without any inflamatory wording or language that we could just hand to a jw and they would read without dismissing it as "full of hate" or appostate etc.
Is it illegal to misquote and misrepresent what other people said? Could the WT be taken to court over this?
The people who are actually misquoted could probably sue for defamation of character. Those who are quoted selectively (but correctly) probably could not, or would be unlikely to win a case if they did. It's not a crime to only quote one sentence from a book, even if it's out of context.
ok...i went to the edge about my music selection...and i'm trying to change it not because an elder or brother is telling me..but because i'm trying to get away from the "aggressive" "anger" sounding music such as rock...metal and all that junk...this is a personal decision and i am not a jw anymore from those that can remember...but my question to all the freaks geeks and streakers out there...i'm starting to get into alice deejay music...trance...does anyone else know of any good trance artists?
the "metallica" of trance music besides alice deejay.
i need music!
I'm going to Creamfields dance festival tomorrow. Among others, there'll be Underworld, Faithless, Yousef, Sonique, Judge Jules, Seb Fontaine, Sasha, Johnny Moy and Lisa Lashes. Should be fantastic!!!!
i heard somthing on the radio and wanted to throw this out.
here in california an amber alert was just issued for a young girl who has a mother that was just released from custidy.
she apparently has the child and the mother is thought to be delusional,( she thinks god is giving her orders and stuff, kinda like the gb :) ).. i know the amber alert is state wide but it may also be nation wide, i don't know.. but here's the rub, the alert was issued on what is a domestic problem, not a criminal situation.
Isn't the "Amber Alert" system a way of finding missing children? Unless the child had been kidnapped by their JW parents to prevent a blood transfusion (in which case it'sa a normal kidnapping case) how would it apply?
i don't understand why people can't see the truth when it's right there in the bible in black & white.
you can't change it to fit your personal lifestyle or modify it by only applying what intrest or benefits you.
the wt organization has its place just like all the other secular laws have theres to protect & guide us.
I don't understand why people can't see the truth when it's right there in the bible in black & white.
Amazing, isn't it? Only 1 in 1000 people can see the "truth". And even people who've studied the Bible in-depth for years don't come to the same conclusions that you do. Could they really all be that stupid or selfish (or otherwise lacking in whatever qualities you think are necessary, that they can't see what's there "in black and white"? Why do members of other religions believe their religion every bit as strongly as you do? How can they all be fooled when you can see the light so easily?
Here's a thought exercise for you. I'd like to hear your response. Pretend your post was written by a Catholic or a Mormon. (You should be able to substitute the appropriate terminology - priests, church, temples, pope etc.). How would you rebut such a claim?

Yadirf,
How is Satan cursed? According to the teaching of your religion, he controls 99.9% of the world's population. Evil being that he is, he wants us all to be destroyed, Jehovah, on the other hand, apparently wants us all to be saved. Neither one will win outright, but who will come the closest?
you may have heard someone say "if jehovah's witnesses don't have the truth, then there isn't any truth".
in fact, some of you may have at one time been so convinced that you said that very statement yourselves.. now you sing a different tune.. the following question is directed towards those who have left the organization, yet still agree with their stand on major doctrines such as (no) trinity, (no) hellfire, and who at one time clearly saw (and maybe still do) the paganism mixed into the popular holidays...... do you believe that "there isn't any truth" now, or did you turn to somewhere else for spirtuality?.
and if you have turned somewhere else, have you had to accept doctrines that you don't believe in at all, just so you could have somewhere to go (i.e.
Hi Nobody,
Welcome to the board.
Your post is similar to many I have seen. JWs commonly use as proof of their religion being true their belief that they're the only ones who teach the truth about the trinity, hellfire [insert doctrine here]. Other religions must be false because they don't teach those doctrines.
Rather than defend these beliefs, or even investigate why most religions reject those doctrines, JWs use their exclusivity as proof that they and only they have the true religion. "Apostates" can be doubly demonised because not only have they rejected "Jehovah's organisation", they've gone back to believing what "apostate Christendom" teaches.
The Watchtower Society has admitted that those who study the Bible without their publications will come to believe what is taught by the majority of Christian religions rather than what JWs teach, but somehow uses this to claim that Watchtower publications are necessary aids to studying the Bible, rather than contradicting it.
ive noticed some discussion on the question of whether we should be concerned about moderating our behaviour because of what lurking jws will think.
should we be concerned about scaring off jws who may be starting to question the wt, or should anything go because if they can't deal with the real world it's not our problem and we should be ourselves?.
the following are some of my thoughts.
Brits swear and blaspheme more than any other nation
The f*** you do! I think the Irish have the edge on that!
Regarding whether we should care about lurkers, if there's a choice between alienating people I know are here, who contribute to the board, and whom I care about; or possibly offending some people who may be lurking, I know what my choice would be.
