No more 3-day DCs starting in 2013?
by respectful_observer inapologies if there is another recent thread on this, but i have heard from 4 different people in 3 different geographic areas (including someone who does advance work for the dcs), that beginning in 2013 the three day dc program will be replaced by a second two-day circuit assembly.
some people were passing the info along like a secret, others seemed to think that everyone already knew.. if everyone in j-dub land is already talking about this, how is it not all over this forum??.
anyway, can anyone confirm or deny?.

Well let me see...
In my area...
Our DCs are never filled to capacity...
(I have visited other DCs in my state where they barely have half of the rented facility filled)
Our CAs and SpADs have huge chunks of empty seating...
SOOOOOO.....(WILD SPECULATION PROCEEDING)
Here is what I would do..... I would take the OLD RUMOR of smaller circuits/larger districts/more COs (or CO-lites)/less DOs and implement it fully.
Thus the WTS exacted more control, had COs who could hold a job (like Mormon counterparts do), less DOs and larger districts which allowed for the seating to be stacked to show Jah's abundance..... and was able to keep the Assembly Halls booked every weekend!
Ta-da !

Loss of AMC shows how can I get them?
by manicmama inas many of you may know, dishnet in it's infinite wisdom decided to drop all of their amc programming.
since many of you out there are much more tech savy than i, is there any way to get their programming such as a roku player with netflix or hulu plus?
i would like to tell dish to shove it, but i don't want to go to another cable service.

You lucked out....
I have know a lot of Bro and Sisters like this....
When this type is a born/raised I call them 'doodlers' because they doodled their way through the meetings/assemblies and never discerned a darn thing beyond the basics for their potential survival.
Self-absorbed ones like you describe above happily without a bit of moral contention do whatever crosses their fancy with pure unadulterated self-justification.

So you been hanging out with my ex-stepdad I see!
But seriously,
This is his faith....
It is more about routine/familiarity than application of accurate knowledge.
He memorizes factoids, presentations, scriptures and whatnot so he can sound 'spiritual'
He is a self-absorbed person.
But being a JWbro he is 5x more valuable than Single-Mom Sister.
This type of person exists in every walk of life....

sigh.....
Watchtower Sept 1, 1929, pg 271
Yielding to the inherited or acquired weaknesses of the flesh is not the sin unto death, and yet the Devil has led everybody to believe that lying, stealing, swearing, committing adultery, getting drunk or losing one's temper, or any ether of the long list of fleshly weaknesses, constitutes sin unto death. But,on the contrary, all these things are forgivable. This explains why David could be called a man after God'sown heart, his heart was loyal, but his flesh was weak.
Rare moment some of us actually miss Boozerford....
Raises Hand....
Umm did they specify the period in which the drinks were consumed (per day, per hour per morning/afternoon/evening, per talk)?????

Bible School for Christian Couples
The new two-month Bible School for Christian Couples began in July 2011 and is initially being held at Patterson, New York. English-speaking couples are eligible to enroll if they are between the ages of 25 and 50, in good health, married for at least two years, and in full-time service for at least the last two consecutive years and if the husband is serving as either an elder or a ministerial servant for two consecutive years. Starting in 2012, classes of the Bible School for Christian Couples will be conducted at locations currently used for the Bible School for Single Brothers.
The Bible School for Christian Couples is designed to give specialized training to married couples so that they may be used more fully by Jehovah and his organization. Most graduates will serve as regular pioneers where the need is greater in their home country. However, a number will be assigned as temporary special pioneers and some will even be trained for the circuit work. A few may receive an assignment in another country if they are qualified and available.
Those who apply for this school should be spiritually mature individuals who have a self-sacrificing spirit. The same instructors who teach the Bible School for Single Brothers will teach this new school, basically following the same curriculum. A few units will be conducted with the brothers only while their wives go in field service. Further details and requirements for those interested in applying will be provided at meetings to be held at district conventions.

No....it would be uber stupid to ever discontinue Gilead as it is a recognized as an international school (read-Mormon BYU potential)
The Governing Body has outlined adjustments to the Watchtower Bible School of Gilead. Starting with the 132nd class, which began on October 24, 2011, training will be given only to couples who are already in special full-time service, such as field missionaries who have not yet attended Gilead, special pioneers, traveling overseers, and Bethelites. If a couple speak and write English fluently, their Branch Committee may recommend that they attend.
Gilead graduates will be given assignments that will strengthen and stabilize the field and branch organization, whether as field missionaries, traveling overseers, or Bethelites. Those assigned to serve in the field will be used in densely populated areas where they can have the most profound effect on the preaching activity and on congregation activities. Branch Committees may continue requesting Gilead graduates if there is a particular need in their territory. They may also recommend well-qualified special full-time servants from their own branch territory to attend Gilead School. In some cases, Branch Committees may request that the graduates return to that country after they graduate
