  Up to what age have your pets lived ?

  my cat is 14.5 years old.

  she is still doing well.

  i already had a bird that lived 12 or 13 years.. .

  I had one cat who lived until she was 18 years old, and another cat who was 17 years old and was hit by a car or she might have lived longer.

  Reading WT literature/talking to a JW is like talking to a 10 year old.

  ok, so some witnesses left the "watchtower" mag.

  at my door the other day....so i picked it up and read it.... it was like reading the logic of a 10 year old.

  then when i talk to jw, like my cousins that still talk to me, or like the trolls (jws) who are on the board some nights, i feel as i'm talking to a 10 year old.... like the troll on-line tonight.... do you guys agree?.

  My heart goes out to you with this awful tragedy happening to someone you cared about deeply. You weren't able to go to her funeral to grieve and say goodbye so perhaps you need to say goodbye to her in a different way. Just a suggestion but one that was given to me is to write a letter to her and tell her your feelings and then say goodbye. I did this and then burnt the letter and visualised it going to the person.

  Whatever way you use, it is comforting to be able to say goodbye in some way.

  My daughter got shunned today.

  my 12 year old daughter works in the office at her school.

  a sister was checking her son in late and the secretary said,"courtney will get you a late return slip.

  " and lisa just turned around and left.

  Perhaps one day this particular woman will be on the receiving end of the JW shunning policy herself. What goes around comes around.

  Sorry you had to experience this disgusting treatment to your daughter. I'm glad she was able to see it for what it was.

  I'm so confused!

  i'm so confused..my daughter has two teenage children, they are a girl just turned 16 and a boy 17... when i was at her house watching tv with them..they made the kids cover their eyes when sex scenes came on.

  now she just told me they both seperately went with friends to see the last "saw" movie.... since when is sawing someone up ok to watch but not sex?.

  snoozy..a confused grandma...who isn't aloud to voice her opinion....

  There is evidence to support the theory that children watching violent behaviour by role models in the media or in the family are more likely to copy it. In my opinion young impressionable minds are open to this influence. However, not everyone turns into a homicidal sex maniac by this influence so perhaps it is certain types of personalities that will copy violence. It's all very theortical still, but I didn't feel as a mother with young children that I wanted to let them watch violent films orprogrammes.

  How do they figure that it's alright to invite another exJW and not you? It doesn't make sense, but then not much does make sense with the JW's.

  remember when i posted a possible job interview at a daycare center...well, i've had 2 phone interviews and 1 face to face coming up in an hour.. getting this job will make or break me at this point...lol.

  I seem to have developed an aversion to the word "religion". I don't necessarily equate being religious with having spirituality since the JW experience

  I want to be a Christian but I don't believe it is the particular church that is the important key to this.

  i was loading my purchase in my car yesterday when i saw out of the corner of my eye a 20 something man in suit and tie walk up to me and he was holding what i knew was a watchtower.. after 30 years of slavery and i was running late i went off on him, before he could even open his mouth i said, i was part of your cult for 30 years before i left.

  he asked what made me leave, i told him that if when christ came invisibly to earth in 1914 and saw russell and his little group of bible students were the only people who had it right and so gave him authority over his earthly preaching work, why would you be disfellowshiped for teaching anything russell tought?

  if the bible says that a person who predicts something to happen and it does not come to pass he is a false profit and the society had not been right on one thing, i told him i lived through [stay alive till 75] and knew many who sold their homes and had enough to live on just until 75 and again nothing happend, did he know that the second pres.

  Dogon - I sometimes feel anger bubbling up inside me when I think of all the harm that cult does to people and it will probably blow it's top like a volcano one day. I think the way to look at it is that it may indirectly shake the young man you vented at out of his apathy and save him many years of heartache. So don't feel bad
