I have an idea that is very subtle and I have used it in other settings as well. PM me if you are interested (I know the boards are monitored and don't want to give away my favorite anti-witnessing campaign)

Protesters at conventions / assemblies...
by garyneal infirst off, i can happily say that this year i did not attend a single day at this years district convention.. on saturday during the convention, my wife asked me to drop her off after lunch and later pick her up when the convention was over.
while i was dropping her off, i noticed a single individual holding picket signs protesting the convention.
it said things like, "was the ransom sacrifice worth it?

what is the dumbest thing you've been reproved/chided/df'd for?
by rather be in hades ini'm a big science nerd and i remember when we were going over the creator book, that the big bang doesn't necessarily prove there is no god.. i said this comment during book study and the conductor's jaw dropped.
everyone was pretty uncomfortable and it didn't help that he ct me off as i was explaining the red shift and mom wasn't too happy about all that.
i had to do a lot of bible research and write some nonsense about how the big bang was not reality or some sort...ugh.. .

You know, I was very naive. I was a regular pioneer from the time I was 14 until I left at 18. I was never invited to the parties where everyone else got in trouble. I did some things, like make out with my boyfriend at not at homes, but mostly I was pretty clean. When I was reproved, I was very upset and felt so guilty for being stubborn and prideful in the jc, but a week later I realized that I had the right to stand up for myself. I wanted to leave in good standing so my parents wouldn't feel the need to shun me, so I worked hard for 3 months to regain my privileges. As soon as the PO told me I was done, I commented at the meeting to show my parents that I could and never went back. It took another 6 years to really be mentally free, but the physical freedom was sweet all on its own.

I don't think good little Jewish girls like me can be anointed or inspired by holy spirit.

it was so ridiculous! but I should thank them for opening my eyes. I don't know if I would have ever questioned anything without that little crack in the respect I had for their authority.

Lol! I was screaming, but not the right way, haha!
they questioned him and he didn't know me by name. He was angry that he was pulled into the whole mess...
My reproof was for my unrepentant, stubborn attitude. I would describe my reaction as fear and confusion, because I had no clue what they were talking about, but to each his own.
They were questioning me about what happened in someone else's dream. The only ones accusing me were the elders that read the diary. Even the words in the diary said it was a dream. The elder leading the jc had a problem with my family and I'm sure he was just trying to be a dick. The day my reproof was lifted and I was given back my priviledges, I attended my last meeting.

I was reproved (privately) because a friend of mine wrote in her diary that she had a dream about me getting drunk and giving a guy she liked a lap dance. She said in the diary it was a dream, she told the elders it was a dream, her mother agreed that we had not spent any time together in months, and it was obvious that I was shocked when they asked me about it. Yet, they reproved me because I didn't seem "repentant" in my responses to their questions. In other words, I had the nerve to stand up for myself when falsely accused.

Ex-JW Teens Get Screwed Out of College
by dontplaceliterature inmy kid sister is dfd and can't get federal aid because she is still considered a dependant.
she lives alone, has no job at the moment, and has no friends.
my folks won't give her a dime for college, so she's basically screwed.

there are literally hundreds of scholarships out there that are only an essay away. Go for the little ones that require more writing, they are less competitive. My first semester, I wrote one
5 page essay and submitted it to 30 $500 scholarship committees; I won 17 of them. I almost never won the big ones... I financed half of my education this way. That is over $50,000. I nurtured a relationship with financial aid, they looked at me like a daughter and forwarded all scholarship opportunities to my email.

if it's possible, go in person and talk to a financial aid officer at the college. They are overwhelmed with emails right now. Key words: financial independence, possible scholarships and grants. Admissions counselors have nothing to do with financial aid and can be very unhelpful if you aren't the typical student. Get your sister involved in this process.
