My atheist friend in SF put one of the "rapture event" photos on her facebook page with the comment, "I'm planning on playing Mah-jong all day, you?"

Very creative! I love it! Though, I hope that one day they feel comfortable enough to break free and live their natural lives without considering themselves sinful.

It seems as if you are still in denial about the JWs if you believe that you can worship God among them. What you are feeling is not a drive to worship, it is a drive to continue your routine. Worshipping on Sunday is a habit for you now. I believe that everyone connects with their inner spiritual self in different ways, whether it is in a church or not. But, you will never find the best way to fill your "spiritual need" (consider where you got this emotionally charged phrase) if you are simply feeding an addiction to Sunday worship. Go to church for the right reasons; to connect with God, to make friends, to kill time, etc. Never go to Church out of fear or out of some force of habit.

Compare and contrast JW "forgiveness" with Judaism and Christianity
by Terry inundeserved kindness: (a rich word-choice from the beloved green nwt bible.).
ask yourself why you don't deserve kindness.
if god says you don't deserve something and he gives it to you anyway...who is conflicted here??

In anticipation of Yom Kippur, a Jew will ask forgiveness of all the people he/she has wronged that year. If an apology is made and forgiveness is not given three times, the wrong is automatically forgiven anyway. Yom Kippur is more about making peace with your own self and asking God for forgiveness of the wrongs you committed against Him.

Physically I left: Being publicly reproved because my best friend wrote a dream in her diary about me and her having sex with a MS. He said it didn't happen and had an alibi, she said it didn't happen, I said it didn't happen, and the diary said it was a dream. She got private reproof, he got nothing, I got public reproof. WTF. Mentally I left: Writing my first research paper in college and learning how to reference other writings and to quote in context showed me the intellectual dishonesty in WTS publications.

This article actually concerns me because, at this moment, my parents are not shunning me or my brothers. (only one of them is DF, but my mom says we all are the same) I am the only one pursuing another religion (mom says this equals apostasy) and I can see them taking this advice and going back into "Angie is dead" mode.

the theme was seeking refuge in jehovah.
the part that really only stood out to me is the one knock they took toward education.

My dad tried to pull that one on me. I'm in my 4th year of a 5 year accountancy program and tuition at my school is 20K per year. I challenged him to find a CPA that couldn't find a job in their field straight out of college. At least in my circle of friends, the ones who can't find jobs in their field are ones who major in fine arts or history, or who do not pursue the higher degrees in the sciences. But, any logical person SHOULD know that there is a limited need for experts in things like underwater basket weaving.
