  Condescending Style of the book Keep Yourselves in God's Love

  atlantis has posted a download link for the 2008 book release, "keep yourselves in god's love".

  i read a page or so from the book, and the first thing i notices is the simple language used that sounds like it is written to be read by a little child who is in elemenatary school.. the styel if very condescending and actually is insulting as if the reader is expected to have a very low level of intelligence or reading ability.. what is going on?

  why is bethel printing such material?.

  My grandson could read much more in depth material in third and fourth grade than this book. The Society has been dumbing down everything for the last few years. New writers?

  Did you ever look up the word Colporteur?

  i remembered last night that the jw of old used to call certain members "colporteurs".

  it probably meant roughly what we would now call pioneers.. i looked it up in my dictionary - and guess what?

  it actually means "door to door magazine sales person, or a person who sells or gives away religious tracts".. what a refreshing note of honesty!

  Ahhhh, I remember those well.
  
  And everybody was basically a "servant" back then as someone in a reply above said. These words were still used by some of the old timers like myself for years after they changed them to what they're using now.
  
  Now the Society is nothing but a publishing company and members (a.k.a. "publishers") are distributors of a product manufactured by the publishing firm and Kingdom Halls are local franchises.
  
  No matter what they say, they're still peddlers.

  Hello! Is there a list of WTS changes since 1995?

  a young friend told me about this discussion forum.

  i completely "stopped" being a jw around 1995. i was wondering if there is a succinct list -- somewhere on-line -- of changes/events that the wts has gone through in the last 12 years?

  i haven't received any of the publications or really spoken with any jws in many years.

  Pubsinger, checking the 2006 CDROM I can't find anything post-2001 about the "disgusting thing" unless I missed something. The only CDROM I have is the 2006 edition. Nothing shows up on watchtower.org either after 2001 - only quotes from their Bible.

  maybe even the latest updated version when the "school" was revised a couple of years ago?

  went out of town this weekend.

  wife wanted to attend a meeting while we were there so *sigh* we did.

  interestingly enough this congregation had a display of old literature behind glass.
